Nares are bears and full face blues...

Post by mrammell » Tue Oct 09, 2012 8:26 pm

I hate pillows touching my nares. I need a full face mask for when I'm congested or struggling to keep my trap shut. I can't get used to Hybrid pillows. I've tried other full face masks and I cannot get one that doesn't leak unless I strap the damn thing on so tight I look like Jack the Ripper took his switch blade to my face for a few hours. I've tried the flex fit 431. Quattro FX. Ultra mirage. Are there any other full face masks that are new that seal well without strapping the thing so tight? Kind of like my old Activa nasal mask that seals even hanging loose on the old mug. I wonder why some manufacturer can't duplicate the nice seal of the Activa on a full face mask? Also I really don't want to try the new masks I've seen that cover your entire face. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I uses to use the Quattro and liked it. Unfortunately I would often move or change position during sleep and break the seal on the mask. When that happened it had a tendency to vibrate or leak badly. I never knew it but it would wake my wife especially when it vibrated. I changed to a Respironics Full Life full-face mask and the vibrations stopped. It would leak also but it wasn't loud and did not wake my wife. Even with the leaks my AHI is only 1.8.

The full life is a nice mask, also the Comfortgel full face.
The gel cushion is deep and soft, with a greater range of faces it will fit.
I have to wrap the lower strap where it touches my cheek, but that's all it needs.
It is my 'bad cold' mask, when my nose won't work.

Thanks for the "Full Life" suggestion. I'm like Desmondwl in that any full face mask, if I move much the seal is broken. Does the Comfortgel seal about the same as the full life? I'd love to find a full face mask that seals well without such tight straps. Thanks again

For me, it seals better.
But, every face is different.
