Hi Guys,
Just wanted to reassure everyone that I honestly don't intend to cut off the elbow piece as I remove it from its box . I didn't think about it before, but I think that one of the reasons I was so concerned with trying to anticipate all possible needs / what might possibly be needed to make a mask work, is that I am on my way to the States for a visit from Israel, and had to do it all in one order. So I figured that adding 14$ for a piece I might possibly need is a worthwhile investment. Actually, one of the phrases that sticks in my head as something that led me to want the CL2 was someone writing that it was one of the easiest to use "out of the box" of the various masks they had tried. So I am hopeful. BUT, as we all know, the real test will be on my own face, at my pressures, with my nose stuck in it (or, actually, it stuck in my own nose...). I'll also second the comment that we are all big kids and we use this great forum for support and info and opinions to plug in to our own personal decision-making apparatus. So thanks for the comments, thanks for the input, and
Happy breathing,
With regards,
AII (who is also called Laurie)

SB,
I think you are reading way too much into what I wrote, as Wader said. No one is trying to tell anyone how or what to do, least of all me. You made a huge leap from what I wrote to suggesting I was telling you what mask to choose. And if you read the entirety of my post, I wasn't suggesting the posts of how to tweak or deconstruct stop. Just the opposite. I feel that is what this forum is for. My only concern would be that people may put too much importance into the deconstruction abilities and that could prevent them from getting what might otherwise be a better mask for them, with that being in the forefront.
I wasn't insinuating anybody is ignorant, and least of all trying to tell someone how or what to do. I think you totally took this post the wrong way. Maybe you just don't know me well enough if you construed that was the intent. And as far as us all being big boys and girls, many people come here totally lost when it comes to these topics and are going by what they read to help them make decisions. Doesn't mean they're lost souls, just lost on this subject. This site DOES make an impact on many people's decisions, regardless of how you may feel personally.

Reading too much into... Perhaps I did and perhaps I didn't. If I did, I apologize but we really must trust that folks can figure it out for themselves with the help of our shared experience. Laurie's (AII) subsequent post indicates that simplicity of deconstruction was not her understanding, her intent nor her reason for choosing the CL2. I say Laurie is a smart lady. She made her choice for well considered reasons meaningful to her.wading thru the muck! wrote:I think you are reading to much into the comments offered. Not trying to protect or tell anyone what to do... just concerned about folks getting the wrong impression regarding the need. or lack there of, to modify the popular interfaces.
Except for the medical/DME business it seems I live my life surrounded by well meaning (sometimes, perhaps mostly ) folks who want to decide what's best for me or want to tell me what I should or shouldn't feel or what I should or shouldn't believe so I can be a little touchy on the matter at times.
Again, if an apology is merited I offer it.
'nuff said.

Hi Laurie/AII,
I just wanted to post and tell you about my experience with the CL2. I was torn between ordering the CL2 and Aura, just like you. The reasons I chose the CL2 over the Aura were: 1) I liked that the CL2 offers two interface options (I chose nasal pillows and comfort seal), because to me that seemed almost as good as having 2 different masks, but for the price of one; 2) I was impressed by the good reviews the CL2 received from Titrator and Rested Gal; 3) I was worried about all the reports of rainout problems with the Aura; and 4) I was a little daunted by all the posts about deconstructing the Aura. So, the deconstruction issue did factor into my decision, but was by no means the primary factor.
It was been exactly 3 weeks since I started my treatment and the CL2 is working well for me. One mistake I made was that I didn't use the sizing charts offered on the Respironics website and ordered sizes Medium and Large. Turns out my nose is smaller than I thought, and the Medium was a little too big, leading to leakage and some discomfort. So I ordered a Small, which I have been using for one week.
Now that I have the right size, things have been going really well. I find the pillows to be quite comfortable. No rubbing or irritation at all. The elbow up on top hasn't bothered me, though it has bothered my cat, who used to sleep on the pillow above my head. I start off the night on my back, but roll over to my stomach to sleep. With a few rare exceptions, the interface keeps a good seal all night, even with my rolling around and sleeping with my face on the pillow, usually with a hand tucked in between my cheek and the pillow. I keep my heated humidifier set at 2, and haven't had any rainout. During the past week, I have had 4 nights where I kept the machine on for a full 8 hours.
Aside from ordering the correct size nasal pillows, I haven't changed a thing about the CL2 and I'm really pleased with it so far. The next time I have some extra money in the budget I may order an Aura to test it out and see if I like it better. But for now, the CL2 is living up to my expectations. I wish you lots of luck with yours! Keep us posted!

amusing read. Over a few years and mask types i have yet to find one "out of the box" that works perfectly. Recently bought a SNAPP. Hated it, leaked everywhere. Tried 100 adjustments & gave up. Pulled it on in the dark one night to try again & put it on backwards. No leaks!!! go figure. Have used it a few nights since backwards with great success. Keep turning it around & trying to adjust the fit that way to no avail. Stare repeatedly at the pictures. Yes I am definitely wearing it backwards. ah well whatever works.
