Obviously, I don't have a clue as to what it means, but are there any documents out on the web that will explain it to me? Rep told me to monitor the AHI, if it goes above 5 to send him the card and he'll get with the doc to change settings. As my old unit was bare bones, I never seen any of this before and my last sleep study was in 04. I'd appreciate any help either of you can provide. Question .. is this a regular SD card and is software required to read the data?
Check out my signature line links. Glossary will help a lot with the terminology. I have a half baked tutorial that will explain some things. I just can't find the time to do it right.
It is a regular SD card. Sleepyhead works great with it.
I can get you Encore software that will work but to be honest...SleepyHead runs circles around it.
SleepyHead even has a Mac version. Be sure to read the SH user guide especially the part about importing. Most people want to go to far into the SD card and since SH works with multiple machines it is set up to do a general search instead of a specific file or folder search.
If you use Vista or Win 7...when you do the install...instead of double click to install do a right click of mouse and install under the "run as administrator" command line. This prevents an annoying problem with the updates.
Check out the stuff I have written. Use your SD card (only thing you might need is a card reader/adapter if your computer doesn't have one)...the post back if something needs clarification.
Main things for someone new to this software...Understand your AHI, event categories, pressure and leak line.
Remember Respironics reports total leak which includes the vent rate so don't try to compare your leak numbers to a ResMed user's numbers. Their machines report leak differently.
The 30 day thing with this machine...we are hoping that after 30 days that we can renew the APAP capabilities like new with a simple reset of the therapy session hours. Make it like a new machine. I have been told it works but haven't done it and not been in direct contact long term with someone who has. In theory it should work.
Lazer is in a position where he needs APAP long term and his AHI is not quite high enough to satisfy insurance and even though his doctor is on board with what we are doing the insurance may bail and leave Lazer without a machine.
So his doctor is cool with what we are doing. He isn't going against his doctors wishes at all.
He of course could just buy a machine online but we got such a good deal on this Auto IQ we had to try it.
He is like the rest of us...money is tight. Should his insurance come through..then this Auto IQ makes a great backup machine. Win win situation.
Anyway, back to your questions about software and understanding what you see. It really isn't difficult with just a little reading and experience.
If you need something explained ...just ask and someone will be happy to do it.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
