resmed S-9 info display question

Post by Denial Dave » Thu Sep 27, 2012 6:50 am

I must be pushing the wrong buttons or something

Night #1 on Tuesday, I slept for about 2-3 hours with the mask and machine on...

My wife has confirmed the estimated time, so wasn't 30 minutes that felt like 2-3!!

Night #2 last night, I am pretty sure that I lasted at least 4 hours before the mask just had to come off.

when I checked the display for usage yesterday and again this morning - it read Zero hours

Could I be pushing the wrong buttons?
do air leaks in the mask affect the time?

Is your machine set to the correct time? It resets the data at noon.

The machine resets its "day" to zero hours of use at Noon per the clock on the machine.
Do you know how to find the clock in the machine?
http://www.apneaboard.com/resmed-s9-cpap-setup
So confirm the clock time first. If you are checking the hours of use after Noon (per the machine clock and not necessarily your time zone) then we would expect to see zero hours of use.

Leaks shouldn't affect the time used unless they are massive and confuses the machine to the point it can't register anything.
Normally if this were the case the machine would turn itself off if the AutoStart feature is turned on.

I would suggest that you download the software and check for sure about hours of use along with the effectiveness of your therapy and how much the leak really is.
I have links for SleepyHead in my signature line.
You can also use ResScan if you wish. Send me a private message if you want to use ResScan and I will get you a link for latest version.
ResScan tutorial here...http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/resscan_tutorial/

SleepyHead is Beta software so it has a few minor bugs but overall it is much easier to manage and the bugs don't really impact the overall data. Up to you what you want to use. Try both if you wish.
SleepyHead does have a Mac version. ResScan doesn't.

THANKS!!

The user manual simply states that you can check usage by selecting the menu options

it would be really nice if the fact that the clock resets at a certain time was in there!

DME training consisted of checking for mask fit, basic operation of machine and setting humidity. Here's a manual if you have any more questions

I downloaded sleepytime, but as a new user, I'm focused on operating it correctly & getting used to wearing the mask, etc....

my thought was give me a few weeks to get accustomed to it and then I'll start digging into the data

GEE it makes me wonder what else is missing from the users manual!

The User manual doesn't tell much of a story.
Now the provider/clinical manual tells a lot more.
