So got a 30 mile bike ride in over the weekend. The next mornign had an AHI of .7. Today, I woke up to 4.8 - ugh. I went to bed at 1:00AM and I am under a lot of stress right now too. I'm sure it's related.
OH, and get this - the power company is cutting power for "maintenace" tonight from 1:00AM to 6:00AM. I have to get a hotel in the city I live just so I can keep the iron lung going....grr.
Today = frustration.

You need to investigate back-up battery power options. I have one, and so a "planned" outage like this is no problem. I put the machine on the battery before I sleep, and recharge it after I wake up. You don't say where you are located, but I would definitely check out local battery suppliers if you have time.

If it were me I would be looking into renting a very small generator. A PAP is a very small load (under 50 watts) so it would probably run the 8 hours without a re-fuel. The last time I remember looking for one of those was to power a sound system for a double decker bus - radio station ran the fans arround town for a new release. If you do that you need something to keep the thing level on hills - and to plan for a lot of "I gotta pee" stops if the bus happens to be from a brewery. Well we had fun anyway!
Diet can help with stress. I think anti-inflammitory foods are the most effective - second anti-oxidant foods. Hugh ammounts of veggies (I go for a diet of half veggies) with 20% of them raw (salads, relish plates, etc...) are also helpful. As much exercise as you are doing go for the protine by all means. Power to the player!!! Also, treat your microbiome well (yogurt, Kimchi, just say no to GMOs, organic dairy only, no processed food such as chips, not from a can, from scratch).
Have a lot of fun!

Re: Choking when falling asleep
update: I got a hotel room for the power outage. huge king size bed, cold air conditioning, and some nice pillows. I sat sleeping with a good incline with 3 or 4 pillows and had an AHI in the morning of 0.1 - I think the elevation helped with the nice sleep results. I have a lot of energy today and don't feel sleepy at all. Normally I'm on an inflatable air bed with no AC. I think that makes for a crappy sleep just on its own. I also didn't eat for a good 3 hours before bed. I have a good tire around the mid section and i think that's making the GERD worse. Back to the bike!
