When I got ready for bed late last night, my Activa still had some droplets of water, left over from the morning cleaning. I gave it a little shake over the sink, and THE PILLOW SECTION JUMPED OFF INTO THE SINK, LEAVING THE BLUE CUSHION CLIP ATTACHED TO THE REST OF THE MASK! What in the world did I do that caused this? Honestly, I didn't think I shook it that hard.
I couldn't figure out how to get the mask back together until this morning. Since I couldn't find the CD that came with the mask, I checked the ResMed website for instructions. The mask went back together pretty easily, and now it seems fine.
Any ideas how to prevent this? I wonder if it had been loose for a while. I had never taken it apart for cleaning, since it seems to get clean without disassembly.

Its nothing to worry about. The first time I shook mine after cleaning it did the same. Scared me the same as you. Now, many, many shakes later and reinserting the frame it is good as the day I brought it home. A quick tip to get it back together easily is alinging the blue frame properly to the pillow. The frame has two rounded tabs and one smaller square tab. The square tab goes to the bottom of the pillow. (the bottom on my mask says activecell).

i don't think it's as much of a cleaning issue as making sure the pillow is correctly and fully inserted into the crevice it's supposed to go in, then making sure the tabs are rightly lined up as the poster above said, and that the whole thing snaps into place and everything is even all the way around. otherwise, you're sleeping with a leak that only becomes apparent when you shake. but it was already partly dis-lodged. early experience with activa taught me this. i guess it's a cleaning issue in that you're only likely to take it apart when you clean it.

Actually 607 was my call sign while I was in patrol. Since I have transfered into the training division, I go by a different call sign, but I carried the 607 call sign for so many years that it still has a special place. While shaking the excess water, if you hold the frame and the pillow you can manage to keep it in tact if you shake gently, but I prefer to dismantle it anyway for cleaning. I usually take dawn antibacterial and squirt a liberal amount into the pillow and run hot water while massaging the pillow and rolling it around between my hands.. I get the dawn everywhere, including the track the frame sits in just to be sure its good and bacteria free.
Hi moogy and caroline,
It's quite late for me and have not been well so please bear with me. After reading caroline's post I started to wonder what someone who did not know what this forum was all about and stumbled across this thread would think.
Just use your imagination and forget all about apnea.

I apologize, like I said - it's late and I'm not really with it.
