Which recording oximeter is best for arthritic fingers?

Post by needzzzzs » Sun Sep 16, 2012 10:35 am

I have arthritis in my fingers, and find some of the pulse oximeters I've had placed on my fingers to hurt if they are there for more than a few minutes.

For those of you who've already purchased any of the *recording* pulse oximeters, and also have arthritis in their fingers, which (if any) have you found to be most comfortable?

I realize everyone's mileage with this may vary, but am looking for trends in answers.

Thanks in advance,

Debbie

I had a pulse meter that attached to my earlobe.
The meter came with and linked to a treadmill.
I wonder if any pulse-ox's have this feature?
Maybe pediatric interfaces?

Hi - There's a lot of info on this page -

http://www.squidoo.com/finger-pulse-oximeter

though whether or not there's one for us (I'm in a similar boat to you) I haven't found out yet (haven't gone thru them all).

You might want to call around to sleep labs to see if anyone has an idea, or better yet call the Arthritis Society because they must get similar questions every day.

I would get a pediatric probe. The are soft and designed to wrap around small fingers and toes.

I have Comtec wrist recording pulse ox. It has a soft finger probe. I have RA and OA. Never had any problems wearing it all night.

Some people find it is more comfortable on the thumb.

I suggest that you consider the CMS-50F. It costs $95 with free shipping from China: http://www.door2doorshop.com/wholesale/ ... 0F-36.html
They shipped right away but it took 2 to 3 weeks for me to receive it. It was held up at the Chinese post office.

The reason that I like this is because it is a wrist oximeter. Most of the bulk is on your wrist, not the end of your finger. It has a nice color display.

To load into SleepyHead: 1. Upload data into software included with oximeter. A file is automatically created. 2. Load this file into Sleepyhead.
