I leave the breathe right strip on until I get in the shower, rinse my face once with warm water and it comes right off.

Although not good for my heart rate, I sometimes take a sudafed tablet to keep the stuffiness at bay.

night hawkeye:

what does sinus irrigation do for you that saline solution squirted in your nose doesn't do? i squirt saline solution nose drops in my nose, but the problem is that although it initially works, three hours later i'm stuffed up again. so do you think i would have the same problem with sinus irrigation, or is it more long-lasting for some reason? thanks.

Hawke and all you squirters - what keeps the saline solution from going down your throat? Yuk. ...

It's the same stuff Caroline, just longer lasting because it uses more water, and by doing so gets more gunk out. I believe you could characterize it as a flush rather than a spritz. (If you believe the advertising claims the pulsating water also activates the cilia.) I used to have to take anti-histamine supplements in the middle of the night to keep the sinuses open, but recently haven't had the need to do that anymore.

The valves in the back of your mouth, of course. The instructions tell you to open your mouth and to breathe through your mouth while doing the irrigation to make sure that no water goes down your windpipe. So, I just followed the instructions. .

Don't forget No. 8 - Say a cuss word.

That may be the key, but in a truthfullness, I believe that any "ritual" that becomes rote puts your mind in the "time to sleep mode". My little method is like Pavlov's dog or a meditative mantra. It just works for me, like my wife's Enya's CD used to before my move to Hoseland, not that I like Enya, it just bored me to sleep almost every night. But again it was rote.

Sleep well.

My doctor prescribed the nasal spray Rhinocort Aqua (is that one of the steroid ones?) and it's done wonders for my nasal passages so usually I haven't had to resort to nasal strips or any other drugs. Just gotta blow my nose before bed.

I do too at 9 pm and then at bedtime I take 2 (Sam's) Member's Mark Allergy tablets, (diphenhydramine hydrochloride antihistamine) compares to Benadrl Allergy active ingredient. Cheap under $.01 per tab.

I got breathrite strips to try, they weren't cheap. The pills are probably why my pressure has went back up. Jim

I just envisioned the poor man's knose flush, Fill the HH with warm saline solution, put a pipe extension on the hose to mask, and tape it to the outlet on the HH so the pipe is under the water.

Hook up to the mashine and turn it on!
