That is fair enough! Good luck with the whole transaction!

i shouldn't have any trouble with my doctor. When i saw him last year to get a referral for a sleep study, he was very understanding and made sure i got the study done.

I'm wondering what kind of supplies besides a new mask i should get when i place my order with Apria. I hope my insurance will also cover mask liners as part of the supply replacement schedule.

It is not common for mask liners to be covered.

How about a replacement hose.

Apria should know your insurance company's replacement schedule for various items. Ask them. If something doesn't sound right call the insurance company and ask.

Actually I think that even Medicare will cover some of the mask liners. Remzzzs for sure.

the makers of RemZzzs CPAP mask liners, is announcing the recent assignment of HCPCS codes for Medicare billing. As of July 8th, 2010, RemZzzs CPAP mask liners have been awarded the following codes for insurance reimbursement: A7031 and A7032.

Just got out from my appointment. My DR wrote a prescription for the ResMed S9 AutoSet with the H5I And Climateline tubing. He also wrote the DAW as well so I should be good with apria. They will fax it over and gave me a copy.

I got a call from Apria today. They told me my Insurance agreed to cover the machine and supplies. My local branch has the machine in stock but not the Climateline tubing so they ordered it last Friday. Once they get it they will call to have me come in and get it along with a new mask fitting. My total out of pocket costs looks to be around. $75 with a $300deductable . Thank you all for your help. Assistance and advice

A wonderful update: I got the machine today!!! yay.

Yes i double-checked to see if it was the S9 Autoset which it was and not the Escape Auto. They gave me a full face mask also (The lady will order a gel full face mask also cause the one she fitted me with was a bit leaky but not too much for concern. She also said we can try a nasal pillow if either one doesnt fit well). Both the gel mask and the climateline tubing will be shipped to me. I have the slimline tubing for now.

I didn't want to wait for that tubing to arrive so i called the main line and told them i'll just use my existing tubing for now and wanted to schedule the appointment for today which they were able to do. had to take off work to go but my supervisor is understanding and said it was OK. I feel like a kid in a candy store now. can't wait to try it out. The Apria therapist set the machine in the CPAP mode but i'm going to adjust it myself for the auto mode. it also came with an SD card so i will be able to look at my results using software. I hope SleepyHead works with OSX.

It is very tricky. Don't fall for the ResMed S9 Escape Auto - it does not record the efficacy data on a card that can be used with the software.
I can't tell you how grateful I am to have found this thread on the day that I picked up my new auto CPAP. (I was searching for information on how to use the data software when I ran across this.) Prior to ordering the S9, I had searched for the features my doctor and I agreed on, and had specified the ResMed S9 Autoset in my order, but I didn't know there was a nearly-identical S9 Escape Auto that lacked the data features I was looking for. The morning I read this thread (last week), I had already picked up what I thought was an Autoset a few hours earlier. After reading this post, I got the CPAP out and looked, and it was indeed an S9 Escape Auto. When the DME went over it with me in the morning, it seemed to look like the machine I had ordered, so I'd had no idea to watch for this substitution.

After discovering they'd given me the wrong device, I called the DME. The person I had worked with tried saying 1) there was no other model of S9, 2) this is just what they sell and it'll be fine, and 3) the Escape Auto is the newer version of the Autoset, so they don't want to give me old technology. She didn't get serious about solving the problem until I pointed out that I had clearly specified the model in a letter that accompanied my order. Once she agreed to replace it, she was as good as her word, and I received my S9 Autoset this afternoon. I am looking forward to getting started with it, but I owe you guys a big debt of gratitude and wanted to say so. Without this forum, I wouldn't have discovered the substitution until I had used the machine and tried to get data off of it. I don't know how they would have reacted to my wanting to return a used machine, but by being able to call the same day I picked it up, they had no room for argument. All's well as ends well, as they say.

sorry that happened to you. Seems like that DME was being a bit shady telling you there was no other version of the S9 than the Escape Auto and whatnot. Just gotta stay on top of things like this.

Luckily for me my local Apria branch seems to be on the up and up. I realized that the prescription copy my Dr's office gave me wasn't the same one they sent Apria (I had the nurse write Dispense as Written on the prescription but she didn't write it on the copy they gave Apria). Apria still filled it as written so i have the Autoset and the Climateline tubing. The lady at the branch also gave me two masks to try out and called on Friday to check in with me. I called today to let her know they wern't working well for me so she will place an order for another one. not sure which i should try out. I'm an active sleeper so i need something that will keeps its seal. I bought the Activa LT and still have that one so i'm going to try it with the new machine and see if it helps with my AHI. i've gotten the lowest AHI's with this new machine but not sure if its just to do with the fact i'm using a fullface mask now where as i've just only been using nasal masks in the past and my AHI's were mostly above 5.
