Just wanted to alert everyone that using vaseline on your mask and shoving it in your butt is very ineffective and potentially dangerous.
Last night, I tried CPAP on my 'other face' and I had a hard time getting to sleep. I woke up the next day completely exhausted and I fought drowsiness and irritability all day. When I checked my Smart Card reading, it showed that I had over 600 rectal-anal apneaic or hyponeic events! Worse of all, I felt bloated and had gas all day long for some reason...
On top of that, I had a difficult time farting last night against the air pressure. I'm considering switching to a BIPAP and would love to hear if anyone has had experience using a BIPAP anally.
I only recently switched to using CPAP at the other end, so maybe I'm just being a little impatient. Does anyone know if my symptoms will improve with time or should I switch back to my face? If so, how long do I have to wait before I see results?
Maybe I need to get a second sleep study done, this time sleeping on my stomach with the CPAP in my butt.... Does anyone recommend a retitration for my anus?
I greatly appreciate the support on this forum; that and the patience and loving support of my wife has helped me through this. I thought I looked funny with all this stuff wired to my rear end, but she just calls me "the cutest Darth Vader Butt!"
Vaseline, CPAP, & Your Bung-Hole: NOT a good idea!

Thanks for writing about your experience. It will be very helpful to me. My wife gets very tired of hearing me talk to our friends about my cpap equipment and has taken to often telling me to shove the cpap up my butt. Now I can tell her that based on your experience it will not be effective.

Gee, here we go again with our anonymous pontificating "Guest" sharing his/her wisdom of the ages.
As proof that he/she is full of bulls***, is the statement about not using vaseline and CPAP in your butt. Well, you complete idiot, my butt looks just like my face and I shove my vaseline lubricated CPAP up my butt all the time.
As I have stated repeatedly, I have used Vaseline in and on my bung hole for 2 1/2 years with absolutely no adverse effects either to my Breeze nasal pillows, or my health.

Which mask for side sleeper?
Vader, could you let us know which mask you use?
I'm using a Comfort Lite 2, but I find that when inserted anally, I get lots of air leakage when I sleep on my side. Do you get a better seal with a nasal pillow or other type system?
Was also wondering if a Papillow placed under my bottom would help.
thanks!
