Best DME for Salt Lake City Utah?

Post by blakepro » Tue Aug 28, 2012 12:29 pm

hello everyone. I've been gone for a while. Hope you are all doing okay.

Anyway, I've moved to Salt Lake City Utah and I need to find a good DME down here so I can buy cpap supplies through my insurance. Can anyone here recommend a place to use? Or even if there is a national chain that is decent?
My previous DME was specific to the area I lived in and they were not all that great but worked ok so I just stuck with them. Now is a time to start fresh and hopefully find one that I love.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
-Blake

Go to your insurance company's website and get a list of local providers. (if Medicare, look for CONTRACTED providers)
If no one here has a shining recommendation, you may have a heap of calling/visiting to do. Good luck.

I am in SLC and I use Intermountain Homecare. They are part of the IHC network so usully in system.

I have no complaints about them, And they have been helpfull anytime I have needed to call and make use of them.

I used to live in Salt Lake city. I had my first sleep tests done at the University of Utah Sleep -Clinic or whatever they call themselves. When I graduated to the point where I would have the doc FAX my prescription to a DME, they furnished me with a list of DME's (addresses and numbers) which were in order of the reports how good they were from previous patients. That is, a lot patients who rated the DME's they had experience with. Might give the U of Utah (University hospital associated) Sleep Clinic a ring and see if you can get their current list.

Thanks for all the replies so far everyone.

I followed up on that tip with the UofU. They didint know anything about the list, but they did make a few suggestions.

Here is what they said below, Does anyone have any feedback on these providers?
I like Total Resp Care 801-298-8831 and Preferred Homecare 801-316-4215 because they do home deliveries and seem to have good customer service. (people who live downtown don’t usually like to drive South so this is a good option)
Lincare is in a nice central location for most people 801-566-7575 Fort Union just about Main St and I hear good things about them as well.

IHC accepts your insurance, but I have had trouble with them following thru on new equipment and MD orders. 801-977-9900
Advanced Care seems to be ok as well. 800-466-9943

Just for the benefit of anyone stumbling onto this thread looking for the same info;

I chose Lincare and they are really great. Way better than my previous DME and they have an office here near the freeway that deals only with apnea stuff so they are well equipped to handle your specific needs or questions.

Blakepro; your profile still says Alaska.
I assume Utah is only temporary?

I just moved to Utah and typically use the tapatalk iPhone app to check the forums. I'll see if it will let me update my profile. I'm not sure it does.

Thanks for the recent note on Lincare. I'm still looking into DMEs in the Dallas area and found Lincare in my insurance network (few are), and was doing a search to see if there were any comments on them. Even though you mentioned Salt Lake City, at least it's good to know they're good somewhere....
