Hose Buddy or Travel Hose Buddy?

Post by Paula J » Tue Aug 21, 2012 10:03 am

I'm wanting to try a hose buddy system. I have read the reviews about both these systems. Does anyone have any input about them that would help me decide? Also, can I just leave my hose as it is and not have to connect it to the top of my head with the mask? I don't want to have to do that. Would appreciate any help with this. Thanks!

I ordered the hose buddy and they accidentally sent the travel buddy so I used it until the original arrived. I liked them both but prefer the hose buddy since it seemed more solid (that could just have been appearance though since I didn't notice any problems with the travel buddy. I don't connect my hose to my head but then I don't use that type of mask. I turn over a lot during the night and just flip the hose over the pillow each time.

I use a 3M Command cable minder, which I take with me and use in hotels etc., as well as with my antique headboard and our camper. This handy li'l thingy keeps my tubing just where I want it and if necessary is loose enough for a little movement.

I made a fleece cover just long enough so the tubing doesn't slap around all night on the headboard or wall.

There are much more fancy contraptions, but this works for me and doesn't make my bedroom look like a bunker

Cheers,
xena

The one that I use looks like this one:

only it has a triangular base and costs less than half as much from Amazon (North American Healthcare JB5651 Cpap Hose Holder). Works well, and you can travel with it or use it at home. I like that it isn't rigid, but that's just me.

Thanks to all for your replies. I just ordered the Hose Buddy as we don't travel much and I think maybe it might last longer and be a little sturdier.

I think you will be happy with the Hosebuddy. I have been using it for over a year. Best investment I made for treating my apnea. My thoughts are that we have to put up with alot when treating our apnea. A hose shouldn't be one of them.

Got my Hose Buddy and have used it for 3 nights. It is really great. I usually change sides at night maybe 2 or 3 times. Before I got the Hose Buddy, changing sides would wake me up so I could deal with the hose and not lay on it. Now when I change sides, I either don't know about it or only barely wake up. That is so nice, not having to worry where the hose is. It completely takes the hose out of your way while sleeping. I am very glad I decided to try it. Maybe this will help someone else make a decision about it.

For OTHER that want something they can put in their pocket and it does a better or as good at handling the HOSE !

Image sold by http://www.pur-sleep.com or https://www.cpap.com

it mounts to the wall using 3M Command Adhesive strips that are guaranteed not to damage surfaces and are removed with a simple tug on the tab. Or they can be used for permanent mounting.

The product consists of a wall mounting hook and two spring loaded, self-retracting reels with just enough tension to keep the hose up out of your way while at the same time providing low-friction full range of motion for every sleeping position. Traveling is a breeze. Just remove the hook from the wall and leave the reels attached to the hose. Simply re-attach the hook base on the wall or headboard at the new location.

Thanks for this information, everyone. I too am looking for one of these products or setups to keep the hose out of my way. However, all of them seem to raise the hose above your head. With my Swift FX, that means the air vent will then be up near my eyes. I've had some problems with eye dryness since using CPAP, though it is not too bad when the hose falls below my head and to the side. Has anyone experienced more eye dryness after raising the hose on a Hose Buddy or Hoze Boss? Thanks.

I use the Hose Buddy and have been using the Swift FX. I pull down just enough slack in the hose so that the vent doesn't point at my eyes, but the hose is still mostly hanging above my head. The Hose Buddy keeps me from getting wrapped up in the hose and forces the hose to follow me around when I roll from side to side.
