Need some advise
Need some advise
I just started with my cpap two nights ago. My pressure is set at 18 so I have woke a a few times with leaks but overall I feel I haven't slept too bad. I slept 11 hours almost and the machine said I had only had an ah1 of 3 but feel really exhausted today. Was really hoping for bett result. It's almost as if I feel worse today. Is this common

Re: Need some advise
It takes some people a while to feel better. Plus it sounds like you have some serious sleep debt.

Re: Need some advise
I think it is common. I've been on CPAP for a month now, and some days I feel great, and other days I'm dragging. I think there's an adjustment period, and don't forget your body is healing from it's past sleep and oxygen deprivation. Just keep using it and you're likely to see improvement.

2 nights in and you slept 11 hours! Wow, I think a lot of us would say that's great. I never get 11 hours in (usually around 7) and in the beginning I was lucky to get 2 hours with the mask.
As everyone will tell you, it takes time, adjustment, lots of patience, and positive attitude!
Good luck!!

Re: Need some advise
20 years ago, I found just the opposite. Before CPAP I was sleeping the 11 hours (but of course my sleep really wasn't sleep -- just a mess of fragmented junk). Immediately after beginning CPAP, I dropped to 7 hours and was refreshed. I attributed this to a much better quality of sleep and not needing those extra hours.sleeptimeinNY wrote:2 nights in and you slept 11 hours! Wow, I think a lot of us would say that's great. Re: Need some advise
Yes, I would say so. A few, rare individuals experience an immediate return to vim and vigor but my experience was the same as yours. Don't despair! It WILL come. I felt worse for about a month but then I began to see a slow and steady improvement. I hope your journey isn't as long as mine but even if it is, it's not the end of the world and one day you will look back and say, "Wow! Look how far I have come!!". Keep us posted on your progress and don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it.Hopefull wrote:I just started with my cpap two nights ago. Re: Need some advise
18 is a pretty high pressure. You shold talk to a GOOD ent to see if there is anything they can do for you. When I first talked to an ent I have to admitt it scared me. So I waited 6 years till one night I lost power on my cpap. It was horrible so I went in and had several problems repaired. I feel so much better and just regret waiting so long. Apnea is common in my family and am pretty sure that is what got my father and grand father. THey have got these procedures down pretty good now days. But you do need a good doc. I suggest checking them out fully before hand.
