A new source of leaks

Post by Ricoh » Tue Aug 21, 2012 10:53 am

My cat has found another way to get me out of bed a few hours early.

Yes, one chomp and he bit right through my brand new slimline hose, leaving several large holes.

I've managed to patch the holes with flexible athletic tape, but based on how proud of himself he was, I imagine I'll be replacing the hose by week's end if I don't do something now. Plus sleeping with one eye open would sort of negate the therapeutic benefits of CPAP therapy, one would think.

Any ideas? Can I wrap the hose with something a little more tooth resistant?

Citrus repels most cats.
I would try rubbing a little lime peel on the hose--and put the rest in a glass with some Patrón.
Caution--make sure this doesn't repel YOU first.

yes. go to an auto supply house like napa and ask for the biggest size corrugated plastic tubing. it has a slit all the way down it to slip onto wiring harnesses. i forget the exact name of it. slip it over the hose. if you open the hood of your car you'll see several of them covering wiring harnesses.

Good ideas. History says my cat is not easily repelled (he is convinced he is not a cat, and is therefore immune to such primitive deterrents), so I think I'll go straight to the chomp-proof hose wrap. Should at least slow him down a little.

I think that I will take that move preemptively! We have a cat and 2 kittens and I have been storing my hose and mask in the CPAP case during the day and trying to keep the little rascals out of our room at night.....until my wife feels the need to let them in to cuddle up.

there are many uses for this tubing. i have my big screen tv with a snorkel-like stem from a table. its a nice store bought arrangement so the tv doesn't have to mount to the wall. i ran a multiple outlet power strip from the low wall outlet, up to behind the tv. i put it up high so when i cut the power in a storm i don't have to reach down behind everything. then i ran all the cords thru a piece of this tubing up to the outllet and stuck the tubing behind the snorkel. it works very well. no visible wires.
