Big red flag. It would be more appropriate for her to open them in your presence.
Torn cushions are NOT the norm unless they have been mishandled.
The torn cushions should be traded for unopened replacements.
These type of cushions don't normally tear unless they are old, been exposed to the air and become brittle or simply mishandled when trying to put the mask together.
The mask is hard enough to get and keep a good seal without having to deal with a torn section. That is totally unacceptable. Either a big fat lie about being "just opened" or mishandled. Either way totally unacceptable.
If that happened to me they would see a real ugly side of me real fast.

Masks are supposed to be brand new and the only way to prove brand new is to have them be opened in your presence.
Anything else is suspect.

You should not be expected to accept and use a torn anything.
Unless you see it being opened in your presence you have no proof that it was never used.
"these always arrive torn from shipping"...big load of BS I am sorry to say.

Nan, Thanks for the encouragement! I hadn't considered not putting my mask on later, but that is a great point. With 4 kids the only "us time" we get is when everyone is down for the night.

I called the DME and they are sending out some replacements. Also the RT will not be sent out anymore, the DME said that they don't operate that way and won't be represented that way. Hopefully there won't be any more issues and all will go fairly smoothly from here out. By the way my machine has an antenna mounted on the back, is that for connecting to a wireless network? If so are there any special settings that need to be changed on our home computer in order to get the data from the machine to our hard drive?

You have a modem attached so that your data is transmitted via the wireless modem to DME for them to do whatever they want.
You can't access the wireless part of it. To use the software (EncoreBasic with your 60 series machine is all that will work right now) you have to access the SD card and I think it is in the slot behind the modem. Just pop off the modem and remove the SD card...do the software thing on your computer and put the SD card back in the slot...put the modem back on...no one is the wiser.

If they removed the SD card then you need to put one in the slot for the machine to write the data that it stores on the machine to the SD card. Flow graphs aren't stored on the machine but the rest of the stuff is. To get waveform flow graphs the card must be in the machine all night. Don't worry...missing waveform right now not a big deal.

If they didn't leave the SD card with you then just go buy a generic SD card..doesn't have to be Respironics name brand.
Only takes a couple of minutes for the machine to write the stored data to the SD card. Modem doesn't have to be off very long.

You have the PR System One 60 series machine with heated hose capability? If so you need EncoreBasic...send me a private message and we can talk about it. unless you already have either it or Encore Pro 2.11.xxx...
Basic is easier to manage though.

You might go ahead and add your equipment to your profile so we can easily see what equipment you are using.
For the Respironics machines with heated hose....look for the grouping of equipment that begins with PR System One 60 series....xxxxx and find your machine.

It's "wireless" in the sense that it connects to the "cell phone" network. (They play games these days with the names "cell phone, wireless, 3G, 4G, EDGE, GSM, TDMA, CDMA, PCS, ABCDEF, etc." but to you it's "cell phone" service.)

Don't worry about it, it has nothing to do with your phone system, your computer, your broadband, your phone service, etc.

ps. No you can't really talk with a full face mask on. However you can get very good at pushing it up out of the way and then putting it back.
I can talk with mine on. And my mom talks with hers on. It is more difficult to hear her, but I can. It did take a few days for it to feel normal.

I use a Quattro FX, and I can't for the life of me, get that mask to fit well if I am not sitting up. If it leaks, and I can't fix it with tightening it, I have to get up, take it off completely, and start over. I can not take my mask away from my face and adjust it while lying down.

you forgot "used scissors"

Either way, send it back.

If you do this yourself to your one and only mask, tape it up and get a new mask the next day.
