FlexiFit 407/405 v Acclaim?
Does anyone have any experience with either the FlexiFit 407/405 or the the Acclaim nasal masks by FP? I'm all ears...well, maybe not ALL ears.

Lori,
I tried the Aclaim at the DME. It was too long for me. I purchased the Flexfit 405 which was shorter and used it for some time.
However, I prefer the Swift with the nylon net in the cylinder to reduce noise and Karen's PadACheeks straps which keep the mask from sliding up in the back and cushions the cheeks.

Yoga,
So I am taking your reply to mean, they both weren't your favorite mask. Thanks for your input.

This actually was the first mask that I tried. It did feel the most comfortable at my first fitting when compared to a couple of Respironics (ComfortGel) and ResMed (Ultra Mirage, Activa).
The problem was that while it didn't leak much, it seriously whistled out the exhilation port when there was condensed water droplets from my heated humidifier. I had to have it turned all the way down to "1" to not whistle and that was too little a humidification.
If they improved the exhilation "holes" so that they don't whistle with moisture and the pressure I'm at, I'd probably try them again.
As it is, I'm currently on the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows. No rainout for me even at very high settings, neat!

Thanks, all, for the comments. So far, I'm getting nothing but what seems like positive feedback on this mask. I don't use a hh very often, so the whistling from condensation shouldn't cause a problem. I'm more concerned about leaks and comfort. I have had problems with most...actually, all nasal masks, but I would really love to find an alternative to a nasal pillow. I've had the Activa, Comfort Gel, Somnoplus and recently tried the simple cushion with the Comfortlite 2, all with not much luck at all.
My main worry is bridge of nose pain and leaks by the, what I call, ventriloquist dummy lines that come down from the sides of the nose. Can you side sleep in this mask, too, or is it too bulky?
Thanks for the info/feedback. It's very much appreciated.

I'm a side sleeper. I don't recall any problems side sleeping with that mask.
The only downside was the whistling at the humidification levels I needed, but if you don't use a hh much, you'll most likely be just fine! It may have also been a defect with my mask.
Let us know how it goes! I can always try it again in the future.

Lori,
A-nother Seattite here. I had the opposite experience from RIS. I find the FP 407 to be by far the quietest thing in my arsenal, but it doesn't fit my face at all. I don't get the moisture problem because I don't turn the heater on on my humidi-fryer.
I have been tempted to try the 405 since I like the quietness of the 407... I do use the 407 headgear on my Ultra Mirage, though...
Good sleep to you,
UKWIS

Hi Lori,
I use both the Swift and FP407. I am an "equal opportuinity sleeper" and use all sides of my body (thats me... twisting in the wind, hahahaha). I switch between the Swift and 407, the one thing i like about the 407 is that it is much quieter than the Swift.
One of the reasons why I switch between them is because i find that I will have sore spots on my face if I don't. Haven't found a perfect mask yet. I am still using tegaderm to tape, which is an interesting endeavor if someone needs to talk to me. I am getting a new dental appliance in the next couple of weeks and I will be interested to see how that changes my sleep, if at all.
Hope you are doing well!
Teri

Jim,
I will lay you odds, I will fall into that 10% of faces that the 407 won't fit 100% either. I just have trouble with nasal masks. Don't get it, but I do. But I am really interested in trying to find the best one that I can actually use and not put in the old unusable drawer. It's getting a bit too full of late.
Teri,
Howdy, stranger. Good to "see" you again. Did you ever try the Activa? If so, how would you compare it to this 407? Obviously, this is working for you as a nasal mask the way the Swift does as a nasal pillow mask, so I guess you are endorsing it?
Thanks for the comments, guys.

I did tried the 470 and the Aclaim and the Aclaim fit better. My Feeling was that the company tried to get the 407 to fit as many face profiles as possible and it became master of none. The Alcaim was a little bit of a pain to clean because the foam pad can not be soak in any liquid with the other parts and I was concern about the foam pad possible deterioration. It was okay but I did not stick with it.
