Hi everyone ,
Just a quick question -
Been diagnosed with osa for 6yrs now and currently use the S9 apap machine average pressure around 10,
Last week started waking in the night to urinate ,before cpap this was a constant thing each night .
Last night i woke myself up with snoring ,
Im sure the apap should compensate pressure and also i thought i would not be snoring anymore .
The ahi this morning on the machine was 0.5ahi.
Any thoughts or ideas ????
Regards,
British Bulldog.

Can you post your ResScan Snore graph, like this:
(assuming that you are using APAP mode)

and the pressure graph:

It might be that your pressure is a bit too low. The pressure graph will show it.
These graphs would complete the picture:

It might not be able to respond as quickly as it needs to if the minimum pressure is a bit too low.Britishbulldog wrote:Im sure the apap should compensate pressure and also i thought i would not be snoring anymore .
Sometimes we have to give the machine a little better head start.
What are your pressure settings? How long have you had the S9 Autoset?

You need to set your minimum pressure at about 10 cm. Otherwise, your therapy is not nearly as effective as it could be.Britishbulldog wrote:Hi,

Re: S9 apap and snoring
The machine can't respond quickly enough at 4cms if you have an event and need a pressure of 10cm to prevent it. Set your minimum pressure at or just below your 90%.

Re: S9 apap and snoring
Just took delivery of an S9 this week, after using an S8 for several years. I too was concerned that it shows a 4 when initially turned on, and called the supplier, who correctly checked my order record which indicated that the machine had been set to the correct, higher level. He reported that the S9 takes a while to ramp up-- which I soon learned is the case, as the pressure indicator slowly rose. (Unlike the S8, which hit the number very quickly).
He also gave me the "secret" method that can be used to check the pressure setting.
Suggest you let your machine run for maybe five or ten minutes, and see what number is shown. It should rise by then. If not, call the supplier and demand that they with come and adjust it, or tell you the proper sequence of button pressing to get the job done.
And for what it is worth, if you Google "Apnea and Nocturia" you will find that only recently has the medical community come to realize that there may well be a link between apnea and frequent night time urination.

Re: S9 apap and snoring
You may not need the machine minimum pressure to be set real close to your average of 10 cm pressure but if you would set it closer then the machine can get to where it needs to be a little quicker. Would need to see a copy of the report to have a for sure better idea but the 4 cm may just be too low for the machine to respond quickly enough.
Since you are used to 4 cm I wouldn't go making large changes quickly. Instead I would work up slowly from that 4 cm till your snores reduce. It will be easier to adjust if you go up slowly and you might find that you don't need to be as close to that 10 cm as you might think. Sometimes just a cm or two can make a significant difference.
If it were me I would increase the minimum just 1 cm for a few nights...check the reports..check for snores and then another 1 cm...for a few nights...check for snores...and so on.
You might end up with a minimum of 7 that would get the job done...might need closer to 10...no way to know for sure but getting to whatever you need will be much easier on you as far as adjusting.
To start out the night at 10 cm now after using 4 cm for a year...will take a bit of adjusting and likely will be uncomfortable...go up slowly..you might get lucky and not need 10 and if you end up needing 10 or whatever then it will be much more pleasant experience getting there.
