Data

I see lots of people on here posting their data. How many AHI's etc... Where are you getting your data?

From the software that we can use with our machines.
If I knew which machine you used I could point you to software so you can see in detail what is going on.
Hopefully you will have a machine that offers full data.
This is why you see us asking people to add their equipment to their profile like you see mine at the bottom on my post here. Then we can see at a glance what you use and then explain about the software.
Not all machines gather the data that the software will present though. When that happens users then have to make the choice to try to get a full data machine or live with not having data to help evaluate things.

It depends on the machine you have and whether it is data capable. There are a couple of software programs, one commercial one called Encore and one 'home-grown' called Sleepyhead, that will do a good job of taking the data from your machine and formatting it into a usable report. If you know what type of machine you have, post it and people will help you get set up w/ the correct software. I use Encore and it is extremely easy to use and understand.

I also use a Zeo which is a commercially available sleep stage monitoring device. It is not a PAP device but can be another useful source of data to determine the quality of your overall sleep health. You can buy them from various online sources - Amazon for example.

Oh crap. You have a full data machine but it is an older discontinued model and while there is software that will work with it ....you need a pricey and hard to find smart card reader to use the software.

The S8 machines were discontinued probably 2 years ago and replaced by the S9 machine which use a SD card to gather data and no special card reader is needed.

Do you have this smart card in the back of your machine? If not, you need one and it is hard to find also.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -card.html

And you need this card reader. Only place I have seen it available is on EBay and from Israel and around $100 depending on seller.

Was there any reason why they gave you this older discontinued model? Special price break?
The software is available though. ResScan is the only software that will work with this S8 machine. SleepyHead that you see us talk about is not compatible with the S8 machines.
The data available from the S8 machines is not as comprehensive as the data available on the S9 machines.
Centrals are not flagged, don't think snores are and no wave flow to see breath by breath and none of the other extra stuff either.
Pressure graphs are shown, leak graphs, AHI and event breakdown.

You do have considerable data available on the LCD screen though.
It shows the AHI and the breakdown (apneas and hyponeas) along with 95% numbers for leak and pressure.
The 95% number just means you were at OR below that number. People tend to forget the OR BELOW part sometimes.
Do you know how to access this data? Do you have the clinical/provider manual for this machine? If not you can request it here.. http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

Well, could be the S9. I picked the S8 because it was the only one that said "resmed" on it. I will get the full equipment tomorrow.

The S9 looks like this. I chose this one for pictures only..it is the Elite model but all S9 machines look like this.
Model name is plainly shown just above the left wheel button for on/off.
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/resme ... chine.html

This is the S8 model machine AutoSet Vantage...all S8 models look like this. Again only model names change but all are housed in the same housing.
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/resme ... -cpap.html

So you should be able to at least see the difference in the plastic housing. There is obvious difference.
If you do have the S9 machine...then we just need to know the model name right above the left round on/off button.

If you have the S9 machine you can use SleepyHead and I have links for it in my signature line.
You can also use ResScan and we can get you a link for that if you want it. It uses a SD card and if your computer has a SD card slot then you don't need anything else to use the software. If it doesn't then you need a card reader/adapter so that you can utilize one of the USB ports. One end for the USB port and one end to slide the SD card into. Any generic card reader will do..doesn't have to be ResMed brand.

Welcome, cdutka.
You can click on the text for your machine to see if the picture looks like your machine.
You can do that with anyone's equipment--it's a link to the online 'catalog' page.

Hi cdutka,

Welcome to the forum. Now that we know you have a full data machine, does your PC (or mac) have a slot for a data card (SD Dard). If so, that plur the link for Sleepyhead software on Pugsy's sig file will be enough get you started getting your data.
