Circadiance Sleepweaver mask

Post by inyourdreams » Thu Aug 02, 2012 9:57 am

I have posted several times this week asking for assistance due to an allergic reaction to the Comfort BlueGel mask I was prescribed which caused severe contact dermatitis on my face. Went back to DME and they gave me an Opus 360 nasal mask (which I really like) and now I have blisters inside my nose. Have done much research and finally spoke with a respiratory tech at Emery University Hospital Sleep Center who advised there is a cotton mask, the Circadiance Sleepweaver mask, that they have used for a couple of patients who could not tolerate silicone or the chemical residue thereon. Has anyone used this cotton mask by Sleepweaver and can you tell me if you liked it?

Sad part is that I slept all night for the first time last night, but when I got up my nose was raw and bleeding.

sorry to hear of your allergic reaction. There are a number of people in the forum that use the sleepweaver elan

you can look here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=79105&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=elan

That sounds horrible - you poor thing!!! I use the Sleepweaver Elan. Sleepweaver has two styles - Advanced and Elan. Search our sponsor's site - cpap.com - for all the tech info. Search the forums for extensive reviews of both styles. Some have trouble with leaks. For example, I couldn't get the Advanced to work, but the Elan works fine. Every face is different. Does your DME provide loaner masks to try for a week? You can submit your Rx to Cpap.com and then order masks with their "return insurance" (about $15) and you can return w/i 30 days.

I love the Elan because it is squishy and I can smoosh my face into the pillow. The fabric is like parachute fabric. The SW masks come in a ton of cool colors and patterns!

Hi inyourdreams. Sorry that you're allergic to the OPUS 360 nasal pillows. That is an excellent mask and the one I use. A friend of mine uses Sleepweaver, and she loves it. Since you went to Emory University Sleep Center, I assume that you live in or near Atlanta. I go to Emory to get a lot of my medical work done as well. Anyway, my DME provider, ExtraKare, is located just northeast of Atlanta in Norcross. ExtraKare carries the Sleepweaver line of masks, so you can get one from them if you need it in a hurry. ExtraKare has been great with me so far. My rep's name is Tracy, and he is a fellow CPAPer, so he may be the one you want to ask for if you decide to go with ExtraKare for your Sleepweaver mask. He's a nice guy, no hard-sell and/or deception nonsense.

Again, sorry about your allergies. Best of luck.

My Sleepweaver élan is not made of cotton; it is a soft polyester microfiber like high-end rainwear.
The fabric tends to wick perspiration off my face.--
After a hot, humid Nebraska night, my mask is slightly moist in the morning and feels nice and cool.

LOVE my SleepWeaver mask - as chunkyfrog said, it's not cotton, but very cool and comfortable nevertheless.

I've written quite a lot about this mask and issues with it - what I like and don't like. If you do a search, you can find a lot of posts on the SW.

Cheers,
xena

I have the SleepWeaver with the improved Zephyr seal. I like it. It's not my every day mask, though. It's definitely cooler than the my other mask, but I find that it takes too much adjustment to get a good seal and to keep it from leaking into my eyes. I'm still kind of a newbie, though, so it's probably harder for me to adjust my mask than someone more experienced. Honestly, I'm also kind of lazy and I don't want to spend that long adjusting my mask before bed. My True Blue is like a minute adjustment.

I haven't tried the Elan, but I'm kind of curious about it. I would definitely try that over the other SleepWeaver masks.
