Pugsy, thanks again for the info. My take is you are the 'Grand PuhPa' of the forum. Thank you for holding my hand through this process. I can see I have a LOT to learn. OK..I looked at the bottom of my machine and I see the letters 'REF' in a box with the following next to the box '560P'. Sooo, it appears I can use the EncoreBasic Software - true??. I have a 64bit machine (Windows 7). Given that, it would appear that I need a blank SD card (2 -5 gig??) and download the software, pop out the SD card that is now in my machine and replace it with the newly created SD card. Have I got it right so far?? Is there documentation that comes with the software that shows how to interpret the sleep data?? Also...is this software free or do I need to pay a for a license which I would be most willing to do. Would you be so kind as to provide the software link again...I'm still learning how to navigate this forum. Thanks again Pugsy. Randy Moon, Brecksville, OH.

Responded to private message (I was out getting my new tattoo )
Anyway for any other newbies wondering about all this software stuff.
Please check out my signature line in the lower left of this post for links that will explain some things.
Encore Basic will work with the new PR S1 60 series machines as well as the older models requiring the DT3500 smart card reader.
It will install and work just fine on a Windows 7 64 bit computer (and also older Windows OS and 32 bit computers).
I have only one reported failure to install on a Win 7 64 bit computer and we just never could figure out why.
Encore Pro 2.8 will also work with the new machines but it is big (nearly 400 MB) vs 20 MB for Encore Basic and despite the Basic part of the name there is nothing basic about the reports. They are absolutely identical to the reports that Pro offers. Unlike Viewer which doesn't do wave form graphs, Basic also offers wave form graphs.
Encore Viewer which is the official patient version of the Encore software products is 32 bit only (though it can be used on a 64 bit computer with a workaround) and is NOT compatible yet with the new 60 series machines. It is slated for a re do late this summer with anticipated release sometime this winter and if past history tells us anything it will be spring...and it costs $100.
No need to spend the money IMHO.
I have all versions of Encore installed. Despite my using a ResMed machine right now (in my profile) I used a Respironics machine until last February. Trust me when I say that Pro is not needed any more and certainly not worth the headaches.
Basic will do everything that Pro will do.
PR S1 60 users will have to use Encore Basic until SleepyHead is made compatible with the new file format system with those machines. I know everyone is antsy about it and impatient but SleepyHead is a product of one individual person and in his generosity has spoiled us for immediate fixes to things and right now he just isn't in a position to continue to spoil us with immediate fixes right now. It's not like you don't have any software available...you have Basic available and while not as cool maybe...it does offer what you need to see to be able to evaluate your therapy. Please be patient about SH.

Lazer, you devil.
I will get pics as soon as I can. This new one is on my wrist area. Rather smallish and delicate.
I will need to wait till husband gets home unless I can figure out some way to manage the digital camera with left hand and get a good image.
Besides, the ink needs to stabilize. I do really like it though.
60 years old and getting her second tattoo. What can I say? I am just bad sometimes.
I have pictures to prove it. I will send you a private message with the image of my first tattoo. I bet you will be surprised.

Actually, SleepyHead is an open-source project. JediMark is the project lead, and has almost all of the code commits. The good news is that if anyone wants to reverse-engineer the new file format, they can submit it for his approval.Pugsy wrote: I know everyone is antsy about it and impatient but SleepyHead is a product of one individual person and in his generosity has spoiled us for immediate fixes to things and right now he just isn't in a position to continue to spoil us with immediate fixes right now.
When in doubt, open the case. Remember: If you can't open it, you don't own it!

Yeah, I know it is open source but Mark is the only one who has worked on it. No one else has wanted to take on the job. That is what I meant by one individual. It is a lot of work and people being people want to request stuff and whine when they don't get what they want right now immediately but can't or won't do anything more than make comments about the future compatibility with the new machines. It isn't the end of the world that people with the new 60 series machines have to use Encore software and SH doesn't work with it. This is free open source software that people tend to want to treat it like they paid big bucks for it.DiverCTHunter wrote: Actually, SleepyHead is an open-source project. I don't have any coding skills at all. I know that there are people out here that have the skills but don't want to do the work involved. Quite frankly even if I did have the skills I wouldn't want to do the work to reverse engineer things for my own personal reasons.

Re: Pugsy, can you check your PM re:software
I've built my own application for the 50 series based on a thread between Mark et al. I'll concede it is along shot but I may be able to figure out the differences and report back. I'm not in same class as Mark, but I've time on my hands, if anyone is willing to donate some PRS1 60 files. I might need a copy of what ever Encore product can be used to view the data inWin7 64.DiverCTHunter wrote:Actually, SleepyHead is an open-source project.
