Me and my FX called Q(uattro)

Post by lliann » Mon Jul 16, 2012 3:52 pm

So last night I was no longer in love with either Buffy the Bipap or Querulous Quatrro.

Today I went to sleep study dme major and dme minor. Major checked out the machine and gave me 1.5 hours of answering any question I had. (and god knows I got 2 or 3(hundred)
He was slightly taken aback or agog, I wasn't sure which, that I knew about the Clinicians menu. He didn't believe me till I said you push those buttons close up tight and do the hokey pokey, and thats what =thats= all about. he started to sweat so I assure him I changed nothing of a setting that could affect my therapy. And then he showed me what one could play with (the trig and the cycle) to see which speed produces the least aerophagia. If one was so inclined. But he wasn't sayin'.

Then he suggested Queenie the Quattro was too small. Yes, I have a small head, but alas a big mouth that won't stay shut. The small, while it fit me, fit me assuming I was not trying to sing the Star Spangle Banner all night long into my cups.

So I marched up the road to Minor DME and said I needed an exchange to a med FX. Now these people were not quite as impressed with my Cpapian prowess. Started to talk about charging me and I said Au contraire. The other is not working for me and I was told if I had problems to bring it back. When he pushed (as in "we meant a few days, not a few weeks- like I would know the difference), then I said perhaps if I had been fitted correctly..he retorted once more (just to feel good or get the last word)and I rested my case. And got the exchange.

If Quintona 2 does not work, I will have to shake noses with the mirage I guess. Might as well tape a frying pan to my head and get it over with.

Arrgh.

My DME gave me the Small Quattro FX and I needed the Med. After 3 months trying to adapt the small, I finally got the therapy I needed. Hope the bigger size does the trick for you. I agree, my lower jaw could just drop out of the Small. I have adapted a liner that is in essence a wide inverted U which covers the area over the nose and down the sides, but not the bottom section. I get a better seal that way. Also, the concept of having the mask "float" doesn't seem to work for a lot of us. I have it tightened down much more than their instructions suggest. ................. good luck!

Thanks. The technician told me that the FX small was the size having the most problems. For a mouth breather, I could see that. Got my fingers crossed for tonight
