New mask

Post by bikeopener » Tue Apr 11, 2006 1:12 pm

A couple of weeks ago my respironics comfort gel nasal mask broke where the headgear clip attaches to the lower portion of the mask. This is the second time this has happened. The mask was replaced for free the first time even though I'd used it for about 5 months. I think I had to strap it on so hard that the pressure placed on the clip part of the mask was too great and broke. After the second mask broke, they asked if I wanted to try the resmed mirage activa nasal mask. Since the comfort gel mask leaked a lot, I thougt I'd give it a try. The mask does not leak!!!! about 1-2 times a week I have had to readjust, instead of a dozen times a night. It even works well with my mustache. I can sleep uninterupted for 6 to 7 hours a night now. I've had to learn not to wake up to fix leaks when I turn over though. I'm sold on this mask.

Hi bikeopener,

Glad to hear you got a chance to use an Activa. It's the most leakproof of all the nasal masks (covers the nose) I've tried. It's a mask with a LOT of fans... and deservedly so!

If you ever get a chance to try a nasal pillows interface, give these a try:

ResMed Swift
Aeiomed Headrest (formerly called the Aura)
Respironics ComfortLite 2
