SleepyHead on Mac OS X Lion

Post by puffdyw » Mon Jul 16, 2012 9:51 am

Im having trouble getting SleepyHead to work on Mac OS X Lion - running on a Macbook Pro Retina Display. I installed the program with no problem and got everything setup, but when I tried to import data from the SD card, there was nothing. It did get all the information about my CPAP machine itself (brand, model, serial number) but it still says "No CPAP Machine Data Imported". I just used my card in the Respironics Encore Basic on my PC, so I know its not a corrupt SD. Any ideas?

Hmm. Well phooey...I totally missed the 60 series machine thing. Was it there prior to my original response to you and I just totally missed it or did you add your equipment to your profile?

Anyhow....that is why no SleepyHead data right now. It isn't you or your computer. Your machine just isn't compatible yet but Mark is working on it. The files are in a different format so a bit of reworking is needed to get SH compatible with the new machines.

You do have Encore though. So you do have what data is offered with Encore...just not the same visually and of course no ability to customize it to suit you.

Ok that makes sense, thank you.

Yea, i just added that info to my profile on cpaptalk. Sorry for the confusion. It would be cool to have that update, but in the mean time I do have Encore Basic I can use to look at it. The only problem with that is, they don't have it for Mac, and the PC I have Encore on is my work computer, so I don't like to keep too much personal info on that. Thanks so much for your help guys!

You can run Windows software on a Mac but you have to set up a Windows environment for it. Mac users can explain it but something like BootCamp or Parallels and of course you need a Windows OS disc or license.

My husband just loaded Parallels & Windows on his MB Pro with Retina last night. It was a relatively smooth & easy process, but not cheap, about $400 (Windows-$300, Parallels-$100). I have Sleepyhead on my older MB Pro and love being able to see my sleep details. So, I guess I would say that it's worth the money to have that capability.

Yea, I've been contemplating doing the same... I just don't like the idea of chancing putting windows on a $2300 computer that has a built in hard drive. There really isn't anything I can do if I get a virus. I already have windows 7, I'm just hesitating buying parallel and taking the risk.

How long does it take you guys to start up a program in the windows environment on the macbook?

Using a MacBook Pro purchased last fall, I can launch VMware and Windows 7, login to Windows, and be starting my SpO2 Assistant program in under two minutes. My machine does have an SSD (solid state disk), which is faster than a normal spinning hard drive.
