air pressure

Post by ymood » Wed Jul 11, 2012 9:48 pm

Dearall,

Previous night, a noise coming out the mask woke me up after midnight. This noise comes when I take inhale as if there is weak air blowing so that the hose starts giving that sound (pum, pum). Is that because of some thing ( like water ) blocking the hose?

Thanks for your comments.

Take it to the dealer and ask them to have a look - more reliable I think than trying to get someone to diagnose it over the internet.

It does sound like water in the hose. It will not block the hose, just settles with gravity to the lowest point. Well, I guess enough water would block the hose. Try turning down the humidifier or a hose holder or both. Good luck.

If the machine has a leak, take the mask off and cover the hose with your palm. You should not hear any leaks.
If you have hearing loss or are over 60 or you listened to too much loud music, get someone with younger ears to listen for leaks. Leaks tend to be high frequency sound and that does go away with age and rock and roll ear abuse.

I caught more than one broken bit of gear in my younger days when I was the snow day delivery kid for meals on wheels.

And try putting the machine at or lower than the top of your bed (water won't run uphill).
