Cpap Hose Whistle

Post by dantbadger » Sat Jul 07, 2012 6:51 am

Thanks in advance for your help. Does anyone make a CPAP hose that is not ribbed? I have heard whistling through my hose since I have been using CPAP, about 2 years. I have been through 4 hoses, and 3 machines for various issues it is always the same. I know it is the air turbulence that is causing it because of the ribbing, who makes a smooth hose? It is always a very high frequency that changes if I try to force slower breaths, but deeper breaths always result in the same noises. I'm going crazy.

Hi Dantbadger and welcome to the forum! What machine are you using? Are you using a humidifier? We would appreciate your going up to the user control panel and selecting your equipment so it shows when you make a post, which makes it easier to assist you. Text is preferrable because, in this case, a picture isn't worth a thousand words. Thanks! I would find the whistling you describe VERY distressing and thank my lucky stars I don't have this particular issue. Have you taken it in to the DME and asked their opinion? I've never seen a hose that isn't ribbed but wonder if you have tried a climateline hose. Very perplexing! Hopefully others will weigh in here that have an idea or two for a solution.

Suz

When my hose whistles, unfortunately I have to blame Willie the Wondercat. I'm sorry, unless that is the cause I have no idea what would cause it to sound like that.
