60 days no leaks, now leaking any ideas?

Post by truckee147 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 6:03 am

I have been on nose and mouth mask (repironics M) and have basically had little to no leaking. All the sudden the last three nights it is leaking like crazy and no matter what I do it goes on. Does the soft rim on the mask get worn and lose strength? Any help would be appreciated.

The cushion is likely tired and needs to be replaced.
There was some discussion a while back about boiling the cushions to get more life out of them but I wouldn't do that unless I already had a spare.

The silicone gets tired and simply doesn't seal as good. It happens with any mask from the cushions that your mask uses to the nasal pillows that my mask uses. Body oils, washings, exposure to air and the like will affect the ability to seal.

My guess is you are up for replacement parts for your mask - those soft silicone pieces need replacing periodically.

Cheers,

Is it possible your headgear is stretching as well?

Hi there
1) I have the same mask, except it's pink (lol).
2) I had the same issue and they sent my mask cusion right out and it is much much better.
3) Still some leaks but not massive ones, esp by my nose, like before.

Re$Med silicone seems to have a shorter "face" life than that of other manufacturers.
Maybe they figured out how to make it soluble in sweat.
