SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
I tried to import data from last night into "SleepyHead" this morning using the same SD card I normally use. Nothing got imported from last night so I checked the SD card directory and within the directory containing all the data files, there were two files with a very large mb number and bogus characters for their names. All the other normal data files were from older dates containing data already imported so I formatted the SD card and took it back to the APAP, inserted it and turned on the machine. Waited an extra few minutes to make sure it was done writing anything to it. Tried to import the night's data again thinking it would have been written back to the card from the machine since I thought my APAP holds 7 days or so of full data... Only recorded an AHI number and says on the main screen in SleepyHead for the Daily of last night that my machine is a BRICK...
Am I expecting something impossible here or going about it wrong? Now I'm wondering if it will even record properly the coming night(s) OR should I try another SDcard?

You actually got a message on your computer screen that said your cpap machine was a brick? Yikes! Twice now I have inserted my data card without sticking around long enough to see the familiar message "Reading SD card" and guess what. It wasn't pushed in all the way and so no data was written to it other than the basic compliance stuff. Maybe happened to you? Well, I know you don't have a brick because I've seen the charts you've posted. Wonder what gives with that message?

Yea it's weird. I waited and seen two messages about it writing to card or something in the first minute but trying to be sure, I even waited an extra couple of minutes to make sure the screen didn't say anything more about writing to the card. I then turned the power off with the surge strip and waited another 20 seconds or so like I normally do every morning and then popped out the card and re-Imported to Sleephead and this is what I got for last night... :Suzjohnson wrote:You actually got a message on your computer screen that said your cpap machine was a brick? I would try another SD card.
Wave form or flow graphs aren't stored on the machine but the other stuff is. It should have been put on the card.
Did you confirm with Encore? After about 3 weeks some of the detailed data on the machine's internal storage will be overwritten..oldest gets overwritten but your last night's data should be there except for wave form.

Nah, didn't try yet in Encore because I only ever installed it on my "work" computer along with SleepyHead. I just have SleepyHead at home. I do have another blank SD card so I will go give that a try just for kicks. I did notice two files written to the freshly formatted card but the one file was like 32kb smaller than usual in remembering the other files per day that would be on the card normally.Pugsy wrote:I would try another SD card.

Re: SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
Same issue with fresh card. And same abnormally smaller file size for the 002 file

I'm wondering if the machine thinks/knows it already sent given data to a SDcard already and thus is not writing the FULL data required?

Re: SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
Machine will write the data to 20 SD cards..it doesn't care.
I wonder if the machine's internal storage for last night got corrupted...so that the only thing it can write to the card is a bad file that can't be read by SH. Might check at work tomorrow and at the same time see what happens after you sleep tonight.
If the problem continues and Encore confirms it then I suspect something in the machine has gone awry in regards to the internal workings of reporting the files to the SD card and specifically that abnormally small file.

i know it's a little late for this one, this time, and may not even apply, but it's a good idea to back your sd card onto the hard drive as often as you feel neccessary. it just takes a few minutes. then if a card gets messed up like mine did with the electrical contact area, you have an exact card image that you can copy to a new card and be right back in business with all the data. i'm aware the sleepyhead and resscan or encore files are on the computer, but not exactly ready to pop back on a card.

Re: SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
Good suggestion but I actually did do that but "after" the corrupt files were placed from overnight and before I formatted it. I made a folder and copied the contents of the SD minus the two corrupt files to my desktop. Here is another strange observation: The latest dated file from the SDcard is dated 6-19-2012greatunclebill wrote:i know it's a little late for this one, this time, and may not even apply, but it's a good idea to back your sd card onto the hard drive as often as you feel neccessary. it just takes a few minutes. then if a card gets messed up like mine did with the electrical contact area, you have an exact card image that you can copy to a new card and be right back in business with all the data. i'm aware the sleepyhead and resscan or encore files are on the computer, but not exactly ready to pop back on a card.

Re: SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
Lazer,
I'm going to suggest another possibility since the new SD card also didn't work.
Any chance your computer has caught a virus? If it's been a while since you've done an anti-virus scan, you might want to do that.
The other thing to remember is that on the S9 machines, the detailed data is written to the SD card. Only the summary data (the stuff shown on the machine's LCD basically) is stored on-board. So when you inserted the new SD card into the S9, only the summary data would have been copied.

Re: SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
Suggestions to try.
Format an SD card.
Remove the power from the PRS1 for a few minutes. Put in the formatted card.
Create a new profile in SH. See what it does with the card now.
Run the machine for a bit with the card in. Try SH again.
As a last resort, if you are past the point where you need compliance info for insurance purposes, you might try resetting the machine in the clinician's menu, but you'll lose all your data. Be sure to write down all your pressure and other settings. I don't think the reset erases them, but I'm not sure.

Re: SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't believe I'm infected with a virus on my home computer as nothing else is exhibiting any unusual activity. I have my Router, firewall, and AVG which is updated and had run a scan late last week.
Just got to try on work computer. Last nights data came through fine in SleepyHead. Prior two weekend nights show the "Brick" in SleepyHead as expected. Imported to "Encore Basic" and I have charts and detailed information showing for both nights over weekend plus last nights data...
Conclusion: Must be aliens in SleepyHead coupled with the corrupt data situation from Saturday night thus even with the fresh SDcard, SleepyHead is failing to recognize the data uploaded via the machine UNTIL an actual night with the SDcard back in for a live session.

Re: SD Card got corrupted now no data for sleepyhead
You might want to do a fresh install of SH.
Either that or maybe create a new user profile and see what happens with the aliens messing with the data files.
If you don't remove the SleepApp folder from your MyDocuments folder you won't have to re-import any old data because an uninstall doesn't remove that folder..it is totally on its own in there.
If Encore is reporting stuff that SH is missing...obviously the problem is SH. It is a beta software though..

For What It is Worth:
SD cards have a slide on the side to put it in a mode to not allow it to be written to, or changed, so the data currently on it will not be lost. Of course also preventing the SD card from being written to by the machine.
