I'm wondering if the data capabilities for for the Respironics BiPAP ST Grey are worth purchasing a card reader. I know some machines have poor recording capabilities and haven't been able to determine if the model I have is good or bad.
The built in readings without data card leave much to be desired so just wanted to find out if the data card gave more information.
Thanks in advance.

Data capabilities for Respironics BiPAP ST Grey
Re: Data capabilities for Respironics BiPAP ST Grey
It says it can be used with Encore Pro and very likely Encore Viewer.
Is your computer a Windows computer? Is it 32 or 64 bit?

Re: Data capabilities for Respironics BiPAP ST Grey
Thanks Pugsy for your reply and your PM reply.
Being a computer geek I have all versions on windows installed. XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8 in both 32 and 64 bit and more. I'm a network systems engineer and had my own consulting business for over 25 years before getting sick and unable to work 3 1/2 years ago. I also suffer from COPD and am on oxygen 24/7.
What I am really trying to find out is what information is saved to the data card on my machine. Example leaks, pressures, apneas and such. The built in display only show hours run and current settings which is why I was asking if it was worth using a data card to capture more useful data or if the card would only give the same basic information the display offers.
I have the old version and the new version of Encore Pro

Re: Data capabilities for Respironics BiPAP ST Grey
I have never seen a report that actually shows what data your particular machine gathers.
The cpap.com product specs don't really tell us and I haven't researched Respironics website to see if they might go into more detail. I would assume that it would give the usual apneas, leaks, pressures, etc that go along with BiPaps.
The older machines didn't show much data on the LCD screen but did gather more data for the software reporting.
Let me see if I can find the provider manual for your machine and see if it tells us anything more.

Re: Data capabilities for Respironics BiPAP ST Grey
Only thing I could find was the provider setup manual to get into the clinical setup. I don't know if apnea viewing is a choice in there or not as in turning it on so you can view what data is offered on the LCD.
http://www.apneaboard.com/clinician-set ... gray-model
I did find at cpap.com reviews for this machine that someone says it shows total apneas. No mention of the other stuff one way or the other.
This machine was produced prior to 2004.
Now if you had the next model..looks the same but dark gray..that one does offer apnea breakdown, leaks, pressures, etc.
I just can't find anything that tells us exactly what data the machine gathers and puts on the smart card for viewing with Encore.
