Mirage liberty and high AHI

Post by BigTex » Tue Jun 26, 2012 7:12 pm

I like the way this mask feel but I am having a high AHI when I use it.

Leaks dont seem to be bad so I am not sure why its so.

I am having a high rate of hyponea.
I seem to have higher hyponea then obstructive very often.

I am bit lost here on what to do here?

Your posted data is not clear to me. I have used an S9 Elite for a year before using my present S9 Autoset. When I was on the Elite I have logged my events (taken from the screen on the machine) like this. Can you post similarly?

In 2011:

I see everything but AHI and its breakdown. How high is high? What was it like before?
Could you just post an image of the daily detailed report for a night that seems to be the norm for you?
Don't need anything but event graphs, pressure line, leak line and flow graph.

The cluster of events at a little past 2:30 AM....is it possible that you were awake during that time frame?
In your sleep studies was anything mentioned about the event numbers being higher when on your back or during REM sleep?

Except for that one cluster with the Liberty...your overall night looks really good and that makes me wonder if you were either awake/semi awake or if that cluster happened because of REM stage sleep or supine sleeping.

I had 61 events on my back and 40 on my side.
I normally only sleep on my side now.

Every night I use the liberty mask I have around 10 AHI +-2

My numbers are much better with the quattro.
I like the Liberty better but not seeing the same numbers.

I have to either pay for or return the Liberty and not sure what to do.

I have woken up every night using the liberty.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

If those clusters are common..and if you for sure are awake when those clusters happen..then they don't count.
You would need to remove those awake/semi awake events from your AHI. Remove that one large cluster and see if AHI is more to your liking.
Next time you wake up...make a note of the time that you wake up and check your report to see if you were awakened at the time of any clusters.
If you had told me you never woke up at all during the night with the Liberty then I wouldn't be so inclined to wonder if that cluster was false positives from awake irregular breathing.. The machine doesn't know if you are awake or asleep.

If you couldn't see the numbers...which mask let's you feel more well rested....sleep better and maybe not wake up so much??

I seem to be better with the Quattro.
I am not sure if I am waking up because of an event or what it its.

I will give it a few more days and see how it goes.
