Checking In-- Update

Post by kaiya2465 » Sun Jun 24, 2012 9:23 pm

I have been away from here for awhile, so I thought I would pop in & say hello to all.

When I was on here last time I was having so many issues that I just felt were finally to much. YAY! I have a great mask, pressure is good,
The only thing I am still having an issue with is the 2 hr sleep period, talked with the dr & he seems to think that is fine. But if I remember correctly I should be getting at least 4hrs or more. I have done the tweaking with everything I can, any ideas, even a refresher on some?????

Thanks in advance

Good to see you again.

Do you mean that you are still doing the waking up after 2 hours of sleep thing? Are you at least able to get back to sleep now? AHI now acceptable? If I remember right your AHI was a little more than we would like to see.
If it is acceptable then waking up could be a form of sleep maintenance insomnia and simply not related to OSA or cpap machine use.

Welcome back. At one time you were successfully sleeping more than 2 hours if I remember correctly, as many as 5 or so hours? Are there any other health issues that could be affecting your xPAP therapy difficulties???

Thank you you both for welcoming me back

Pugsy: Glad your still around & hope all has been well. Yes I am still waking up every 2 hrs or so. I thought I was on a roll once I got the mask & pressure right. The health care system here got worse. They took the only person that came to this area out Off & on I was starting to get 2-5 hrs also an 8 would rear up & give me hope, but now back down to 2 hrs. The Drs are checking for MS again but not sure if that would effect things. Have not given up yet

Slinky: I was off & on, no clue what happened. I will post my morning readings before I go get my eye exam.

~Thanks again~

Welcome back,

I do hope you can get the 2 hour issue resolved. It feels so good to sleep all night long and wake up refreshed.
The 0.0s are sweet. Keep trudging, you may be onto the right path. I hope this is a trend for you and the longer sleep will follow. Take care,

Karen

That data is so rare that it has to be suspect. Is that a common occurrance or a rarity for you??

It happens on & off, usually I have a reading AHI reading 2 to 3 in that time period. I sure wish they would let LeAnna start coming back.

Slink, if that's only for a 2hr period, would it be possible to get those numbers? Hi K, nice to meet you!

Yep, totally misleading. Many of us have no events the first two hours of the night. And if Ramp is used no data is being reported for the Ramp period. I never trust low data on a night of fitful on and off sleep. I don't put a lot of faith in my data if for less than one full 6 hour stretch of sleep.

Because they deny us access to the sleep techs, and/or "gag" them, because the sleep techs are "not medical" personnel. Of course, the sleep doctors don't have a clue regarding the features of the various PAP models - just the basic difference between CPAP, bi-level and the more sophisticated PAPs and the RRTs are mostly "respiratory" therapists and not as well-versed in the PAP devices they provide support and assistance for as they should be.

The sleep techs see our sleep, they see us sleep, they make the adjustments thru the night that assist or interfere w/our sleep, they see what works and what doesn't work thru our various stages of sleep, what our response is to the various changes that they make, they decide what changes to make during our sleep, our sleep positions and our events. While they aren't and can't be familiar w/the various PAP models and their features the sleep techs ARE very much aware of what features produce what results for "our" sleep as individuals on that night or nights in the sleep lab under their supervision and adjustments.

The good sleep techs are the true heroes of the sleep profession.

So in all aspects when I asked to have a new study done...it was a good idea & I should keep trying to get one. While I am waiting I will keep trudging along.
