I am so glad to find the community here. Very helpful folks. I was recently diagnosed with OSA and started on CPAP therapy. During this process, I have went to 2 different sleep Docs who were dismissive with my observations, and statements which did not make good clinical sense. Forgive me, but I am an ICU nurse and know. For example, when I told one Doc that would wake-up from a dream gasping for air and my heart was racing her reply was "your blood sugar might be low.". The other Doc told me not to be concern with central apnea with my index 6.2. I recently had a heart attack and suspect I might be having some arrhythmias during some of apneic events. My cardiologist is also concern. This same Doc changed my A-Flex mode to C-Flex. When I asked her what was the difference between the two she said she did not know, but are more comfortable on C-Flex.
I am frustrated and concern because if I have symptomatic untreated central apneic this could cause another heart attack or worse. I need to find a Doc who listens and knows there stuff. Any recommendations???????

I see Dr. Zoroufy with Sleep Medicine Associates. He is happy that I am monitoring my own data with Sleepy Head and likes an educated patient, so I think that right there puts him ahead of a lot of the other docs out there. He also told me that if I saw something odd in my data to call or bring my card in and they would take a look. Might be worth a try. He's actually the director of the Lake Sammamish location (Issaquah) but it looks like he can also be seen at their Cherry Hill location in Seattle.
Do you have a data compatible machine? (You may want to fill out your user profile with what equipment you have) If so, you can take a look at when you are having central apnea episodes, when you are waking, and see what is going on at that time.

I really like me sleep doctor in Federal Way. Dr David Brown. He is a neurologist and has sleep apnea himself. He prescribed the resmed s9 so that he could review real data. And he was surprised but happy that I was able to download my own data.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
