Received my new Aura mask yesterday, and I must say that I think it is love this time. Not at first sight though, as I was a little concerned at the appearance of the mask when I first opened the box.
I took a nap with the mask on yesterday afternoon using the med. sized nasal pillows, and was thinking that maybe they were just a little too small for my nares. I tried the lg. nasal pillows last night to start off with and quickly changed back to the med. size when they just wouldn't fit in my nares completely. I felt like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears- this one is too small, this one is too large-lol. Anyway, the med. size worked best and with a little tweeking to the wire nasal frame, I got a good seal.
As some of you remember, I was strugling with wearing a Comfortgel mask and having hot-flashes at night that ended up as rain-out in my mask. Well, the Aura has relieved all that since it doesn't touch my face at all. Best of all, if my nose itches at night, I can reach right up and scratch it without taking off a whole mask to do so.
the only negative that I can find with the Aura is that the headgear seems to slide around a bit on my head even though I have tightened it as much as I dare. I have shoulder length hair and I think that has something to do with it. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions on getting a better fit from the headgear (without cutting off circulation to my brain or shaving my head), I'd appreciate any advice. Over-all though, I am soooooo happy with the Aura Mask!

Glad to hear the Aura ("Headrest" by Aeiomed) is working for you, KC!
You probably won't like the idea of adding anything homemade that touches your face, but to really stabilize the headgear, this kind of addition will sure help:

At tnlc.com/Lara/laura/osa/ you can see more "aura-RnR" jpegs showing other placements of homemade straps to hold everything in place better if the headgear scoots around for you.
Some women with long hair fix a bun or ponytail to keep the regular straps up or down in place under/over the hairdo.
You probably already know this, but another thing that helps keep any mask from being pulled out of position is to run your main air hose over your headboard, or fix an elastic ponytail scrunchy to the headboard or wall above your head. Run the main air hose through the scrunchy. Keeps the weight of the main air hose from pulling at the mask when you turn over or move your head.

If you follow Aeiomeds fitting instructions, ( http://www.aeiomed.com/press/perfect_poster.pdf ) you might discover that the headgear has to be pretty far down to fit stabely (is that a word?). It certainly helped in my case.
If I remember correctly, people with long hair - e.g. Sleepless on LI, tie the headgear beneath their ponytail.

I tie my ponytail above the bottom headgear closure; like I do with a baseball cap. I think I will try both suggestions of the additional band, and moving the headgear down on my forehead a bit. I tried to follow the fitting instructions to the tee as they indicated the lockbox should be positioned at or slightly below the front hairline. Of course, with this only being my 2nd day with the Aura, and still being extremely satisfied already, I am more than willing to try all alternate fitting combinations to make what is already great even better.
Long Hair and CPAP Masks
I have long natural blonde hair all the way down to my backside which is a challenge when using CPAP.I generally feed all of my hair up through the top of the space between the top head strap of My ResMed Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows Mask. The hair doesn't get as tangled up when I do this because I can't stand to wair any scrunchies/ponytail bands while sleeping.
I had a thought the other day about controlling ones hair when wearing the mask, and I wonder if using a Topsytail styling tool to wrap the hair around the mask straps might help hold it in place better?(This hair tool was popular in the 1990's and I still have one-basically it lets you make a loose ponytail, insert it into the device up midway, and pull the ponytail around in loop fashion which would allow the ponytail to be brought over the mask strap and then parted, and then down and out, through the hair above the ponytail holder)I think I might try this.I am not promoting this tool here, and I have no affilliation with the company that makes it.I just had an idea on another use for it!
Oh...Ms.Snorzalot....that ''Darth Vader'' CPAP photo is hilarious!!!
Oh,and by the way,you should have seen the look on the sleep tech's face when she had to go through all of my hair to place the electrodes on my scalp. That was priceless!
