I just finished my first week of xPAP and I have noticed that for the last few days, my s9 Autoset has been increasing the pressure to the max right when I first get into bed and am still awake. I'm not sure why it is doing this as there are no events flagged. Has this happened to anyone else, and what can I do to prevent it from happening? Would turning the ramp on help?
Here is the data from right when I got into bed:

As I understand it, the S9 AutoSet attempts to look at the shape of the airflow waveform and detect restrictions in airflow and adjust to them before actual apneas occur. (Or something like that.)
Sometimes, the machine isn't really as smart as it thinks it is, and the pressure runs away. Or it misinterprets your breathing because you're still awake.
That's why you can't always simply let the machine run auto mode with a wide open pressure range. You may need to adjust the pressure range, or not wear the machine while awake.
By the way, this may apply to the PR auto machines and other auto machines to some degree.

The same happens to me. I have truble falling asleep with CPAP so I often lay down wide awake with it. I have VPAP Auto S9. I think there is flow restriction when we lay down and it doesn't matter whether we are awake or asleep.
