SleepyHead Removes Data
Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
OK, thanks Pugsy & Archangle. I was just wondering if there was specific reason to, or not to, copy the files from the old card to the new. I'll just do it.

Yeah, I think their head tech might have erased it all by accident at this office. It's so insane. It reminds me of being at a free clinic or something. They run that poor guy ragged! Every time I'm there he has so many things going on he's bound to have had that happen. I got at least some of the data back thanks to Pugsy suggestion!
Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
Regardless of whether you lock or backup your card normally, I would both lock the card and make a copy before handing it to anyone else.awritersmind1 wrote:Yeah, I think their head tech might have erased it all by accident at this office. Definitely going to from now on! I admit I know very little about computers and the way formatting is and then drives wanting to be formatted, I've always been hesitant to mess with something like that, but after everyone's great advice, I feel confidence in the ability now!

Oh and thanks for all the help Pusgy! I at least have the overall summary and specific data from the last few days, which is more than what they could get! :-p Sigh... Also, I checked my machine. It's a 550P version of the REMstar auto.

Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
Sorry for so many back to back posts here... I just thought of a question. Might seem stupid, I don't know.
Is there a way that I can try and trick my APAP into thinking I'm not breathing to see if it will cycle up? I thought maybe holding my breath would do that, as well as at the same time doing that thing with the back of the throat where you can sort of like block part of it to not taste something, but it doesn't do anything.

Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
Not really any way to trick the machine into increasing pressure if that is what you were wanting.
You can hold your breath for a minute and the machine will likely flag it as a clear airway event and by design if the machine flags a clear airway event it won't respond at all. I don't know of any way to simulate a collapse of the airway while awake with any clear cut definition. I suppose you could try what you are saying but if you are thinking that the machine is faulty that wouldn't be a way to be definitive about it. I would think it would be difficult to simulate all the event precursors that go along with triggering an increase in pressure because there is so much more to it than just holding your breath. The absence of any response really wouldn't mean much.
If the machine thinks you are having a clear airway (open airway cessation of breathing) it will simply sit by and twiddle its little thumbs. They won't respond to clear airway events. Not meant to. Only time you might see an increase in pressure near a clear airway event would be because there was some sort of obstructive event precursor going on behind the scenes that you can't see. Should an obstructive event be score alongside a clear airway event it is just a coincidence. Two separate things going on unless you get into the Cheyenne Stokes Respiration over shoot and undershoot pattern.
Normally the machine will flag Periodic Breathing in green when this happens.

Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
I wonder if the machine is buggy and is thinking they are clear airways and they're not actually, and that's why with the higher pressure they're going away? I don't know if that's even possible of a bug...
Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
Maybe they weren't really centrals and the higher pressure is better treating the other obstructive stuff which might have been causing some mini arousals which lead to those tossing and turning centrals or numerous chances to have sleep onset centrals which are of course not a big deal.
Maybe your body is just finally adjusting to all this and same above scenario.
Often we just have to accept some things because we simply don't have access to all the particulars to give us a clear cut answer. As long as it is an improvement instead of going the other way up to you how much time you want to spend what iffing. Things change for better (and worse) and often we just don't know why. We can guess but sometimes that is the best we can do.

Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
Actually on the PR System One machines, the only lost data is the wave flow graph (and graphs based on the wave flow graph---i.e.the minute ventilation, tidal volume, respiratory rate, inspiration time, and expiration time graphs that don't show up in Encore at all)archangle wrote:Only the compliance data and a few other data points will be copied to the new card. You won't get any of the old airflow data, for instance. You should get all the data for future sessions.ekubaskie wrote:Wait a minute, this brings up a question - is there no other information stored on the SD card? Is it OK to take my new Wifi card and just pop it in there blank rather than to copy the data file from my existing card?
The Event Table, and the detailed graphs for Pressure, Leak, Snore, and AHI all still show up in Sleepy Head and the Event Table and the detailed Pressure and Leak graphs will show up in Encore. The Event Table, of course tells you roughly when each of the events occurred during the night.---it's certainly enough to spot problems with nasty clusters of events for example.
On the Resmed S9s, however, I believe that all the detailed data is indeed lost and all you have is the summary data: The AHI for the night, which is broken down into the CAI, AI, and HI; the median, 95% and max leak rates; the median, 95%, and maximum pressure settings; and the compliance data of course.

Faking OAs is hard. Faking snoring is usually NOT that hard. And the PR machines do increase the pressure in response to snoring.awritersmind1 wrote: Is there a way that I can try and trick my APAP into thinking I'm not breathing to see if it will cycle up? So put the mask on and start doing some conscious snoring. You should be able to see the pressure start to rise.

Making noises like you're trying to sniff stuff out of a runny nose seems to be the easiest way to fake my PRS1 Auto into autoing up.robysue wrote:Faking OAs is hard. With a nasal mask, I can close off my nose at the back of the throat and breathe through my mouth for a minute or so and fake it into an apnea. It helps if I start it at the start of an exhale and sort of blast air out once I start breathing like my exhale was blocked. I haven't tried to fool the S9 yet.

Re: SleepyHead Removes Data
I haven't tried that yet. I'll have to do that!
But last night, I have an obstructive that last for 67 seconds and the machine didn't cycle up to a higher pressure. It does sometimes, but I'm not sure what it's doing or not doing. Other times during the OAs it didn't cycle up either. Maybe it's sporadic...
