Do I have sleep apnea?

Post by vlm » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:55 pm

I don't seem to have a problem breathing in at night. Only breathing out and only when I am on my back.

That sounds like sleep apnea or worse, but you need a test. Check with your doctor.

This may also help you, but it's no substitute for checking with your own doctor.

Do you have this difficulty exhaling even when you are awake?

I agree with nanwilson - you need to get it checked out.
However for your information, I have sleep apnea and am most aware that I have trouble breathing out - especially when lying on my back... and often before I drop off to sleep; that's what made me get it checked out in the first place.

If you can't breathe out, how are you going to take the next inhalation?

See a doctor. That's their job.
