dryness in the mouth

Post by Tzvidvo » Sun Jun 10, 2012 2:42 am

I have been using a Cpap machine for close to 12 years and I have had a problem of dryness in the mouth on and off. Last year I changed to a nostril mask in the hope that It would solve the problem. It did not. Does anything have a similar problem that could offer some advice?

Sounds like mouth breathing. Have you tried using a chinstrap to keep your mouth closed?

You probably need a 'full face' mask - i.e. a nasal mask that extends to also just cover your mouth - look on Cpap.com for 'masks', then 'full face' and maybe look at the Quattro FX which is very popular. The FF masks let you mouth breathe without losing the air being pumped in to keep your throat open... you have probably been having very ineffective treatment for years.

I second the use of a chin strap. Solved my problem.
