Annual Sleep Conference, Patient focused care

Post by Pad A Cheek » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:13 pm

On June 9-13 in Boston the Associated Professional Sleep Societies will hold their annual conference. We are fortunate enough to be exhibiting this year for the first time ever. We are excited about this conference because it is the largest sleep conference in the USA.

I was listening to the Philips Respironics invitation to their booth today and it seems that patient participation is the focus of their booth this year. Here is the link to the page with their video if you want to see what they said:
http://www.healthcare.philips.com/main/ ... s/apss2012

If any one that reads this forum is going to be at the conference, stop by our booth and say Hi. I would love to meet you.

Karen

Thank you Nan,

I am really looking forward to this. I also will share a bit of the wisdom I have gained here with anyone who wants a patient's perspective. The trend toward more patient centered care and encouraging the patients to be involved in their therapy is great. I have met a few doctors already who really feel a patient's interest in the therapy makes a huge difference in their success. But some of us already had that figured out early on, didn't we?

Good Luck on your first time exhibiting at a conference. As a Trade Show and Conference manager, in the Education field, I wanted to provide you to a resource of tips for an exhibitor. http://www.exhibitoronline.com/tips/

Exhibiting can be a rewarding and exhausting prospect at the same time, so anything that you can do to make your life easier is well worth it. The Lead Retrival service can be helpful as instead of writing down a prospects name, you simply scan the badge and move on.

I Wish you all the best. I hope you make a bunch of good contacts. For example - when speaking to my RT recently, she had never heard of Padacheek, mask liners, or the comfort products available. Education and awareness to the field could help many more people find out about your product, because comfort = compliance.

Thank you Dave,

That link does have some great suggestions. I will certainly read those and do what I can this show.

We already have reserved a Lead Retrieval gadget for the show. There were others who suggested that from the last show. We attended the Sleep Conference last year in Minneapolis to get a feeling of how we wanted to do the show. I think we are ready to share the good news about our solutions with the professional world.

You can certainly register and attend if you wish to, but it is pricey. Here is the website for more information: http://www.sleepmeeting.org/

If any of you decide to come learn so much about the sleep medicine field, this is a real bonanza of presentations and posters and exhibitors. There is no way that one person can take it all in. This is a great conference.

Best of luck with the conference, Karen. As a customer of yours, I wish you the very best in getting the word out about your products.

I work in medical education myself, and just returned from ASCO in Chicago (world's largest annual cancer meeting for professionals). Based on my experience in attending these types of physician/industry conferences over the past 10 years or so, I would recommend that you spend as much time as you can walking from booth to booth, sharing your story with others and inviting them to stop by your booth. It is often tough for the little guys to get traffic to their booths among the monsters of the exhibit halls (especially if your booth happens to be in the back of the hall - often a reality for newcomers)...but I'm sure you'll be taking your passion for helping others, which should resonate with any audience

Good luck!

This is right in my backyard! I would love to go but it looks like it is for professionals (or costs about $500 admission). i'd need a lot of free samples to justify that.

Karen, is there any part that is open to the public for a nominal fee?

I hope you have a great time. Your story is so amazing and I hope you do well.

Be careful no one tries to steal your concept. I have bought your product and I like it but I can see a large manufacturer trying to integrate your idea into their mask design. I've found being paranoid in business is a necessity.

I wish! I work very close to there and they always have conventions. They are pretty strict with the name badge thing (the name badges are HUGE). I hope she loves her time in Boston and has a great time. Weather should be good. It's right in the Back Bay neighborhood so plenty of great places to eat...and about a mile to Fenway Park.

You would think that if the theme is patient focused care they would want some patients. i'll volunteer!

I went to the Respironics site and selected the USA version.

Now I can't go back and select the "out of North America" version, I'm taken straight to the USA version.

Can anyone strip the "out of North America" version or post the direct URL for it?
