So I went to bed wearing the cpap mask and woke up with it sitting on my nightstand on top of my machine and it was off. The data showed I used it for about 2.5 hours and I guess I took it off, but I don't remember doing it.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Took the mask off in my sleep
Re: Took the mask off in my sleep
Yes, it has happened to a lot of people.
If you make a habit of it then perhaps tape the mask to your face so that when you remove it during the night the discomfort will wake you up so you can stop....or wear mittens to bed to make it harder to remove the mask.

Re: Took the mask off in my sleep
I have only been using my machine for about a month now and that happens all of the time. I manage to turn the machine off and take the mask off, but I don't remember doing it. I think it just takes time and getting used to it. I've had 2 full nights of not taking my mask off and hoping for many more!
Re: Took the mask off in my sleep
It's 100% normal. If it happens frequently, it's a problem. If it happens only every once in a while, don't worry.
I did it once. Took off my mask and slid it underneath my pillow without turning off my machine. Woke up in the morning with the mask still blowing under my pillow. I'd had some crazy dream about it, too.

Relax. Give yourself some time to get used to it. I imagine we all did it at first. I know I did. Now, I won't sleep without it.

Re: Took the mask off in my sleep
lol I feel much better.
well last night I managed to wear it all night, I actually felt like I slept too, although I did wake up once or twice. I work up even more tired than usual though but that could be cause I only got 6 hours of sleep. my AHI (still not sure what this means) was only a 1.7 which if I remember from the sleep medicine person, anything under 5 is supposed to be good.

Re: Took the mask off in my sleep
I'm only in my second month, but I'm learning this is common for newbies too. Give yourself time to catch up on your sleep. It takes people longer than others to make up their sleep deficit. What is helping me is keeping a journal of symptoms that are going away. If I didn't do this I would think that nothing was happening. But I'm much better than pre CPAP!Robbnva wrote:lol I feel much better.

Hang in there. Keep asking questions. We've all been there!
