1st powerage on CPAP

Post by msradar65 » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:31 am

We had a power outage this morning around 8am. I was about to get up anyway as my clock had gone off a few minutes before it happened. I just laid there until the power came back on...mask off. It only lasted 30 minutes. But as soon as the power went off I knew! lol

I slept through a 15 minute power outage once. Only reason I know is that I woke up and power was off...went ahead and got up and checked clock...6:15 and when I checked my reports it showed 6:00 for the time the machine went off.
I found out that I can breathe quite comfortably through the vent holes. Don't think mouth opened much (if any) because my mouth was clamped shut and no dry mouth. Of course no way to know for sure but in the past when I have done some awake tests with the power off just to see if just using the vent holes was enough and I managed to get to 30 minutes and quit only because I was bored.

yeah, as soon as the power went out and house was silent I was awake. I sleep with a fan running. I would have sleep through if it was not for the fan.

I have lost power at night on several occasions and woke up immediately. Probably never tried to breath more then twice. lol.. I think its because of my sensitivity to the pressure change. Thats one reason I use CPAP instead of APAP.

Hmmm...I am on APAP. I started on straight CPAP but my needs changed over the course of a year and I retitrated myself and went to APAP. 10-15.
