SD replacement card question
I have to send my SD card into the DME's for insurance compliance. I bought a new SD card (a regular one, not HD).
My question is: If I put my new SD card in to my machine at night, what will I see the next morning? Just the daily report? Or will it transfer everything?
Next question: When I put my new SD card (that I used that previous night) into my computer, I would assume it will import it?
I guess I am a little confused as to what happens with all my prior information. I know it's in my Sleepyhead program and it's in my machine, but do I have to copy it somehow back to the new SD card?
I apologize, I know it's probably very simple, but it has me stumped!!
Thanks to everyone for all your help!

Re: SD replacement card question
Hi Ruth,
If you put your current SD Card (the one with all your data) into your PC (a couple of assumptions, Winows? Windows7?) you should get a pop up when you insert your card that looks like this

Selecting "open Folder" or if autoplay is not turned on, using windows explorer to drill down into your removable SD card folder should show you a structure like this

select all the files and folder and right click and copy them. Remove your old SD Card and insert your new SD Card into the reader and right click paste. This will store all the information on your new SD Card.
You can send your insurance company the new card keeping your old one and all your information.
If you have questions, let me know. If you have a mac, you are on your own
I am using an S9 Autoset, if you have a different machine, the file (names) may be different but the steps should be the same.

Thank you, Tino, I will try that when I get home tonight. It's Windows "something" just not sure!

The s9 will transfer all the info it currently has to the card and record any new info on it. Or it will complain about no card.

Re: SD replacement card question
Sooo, I am on week 3 on my using a mask and my vpap. Overall I am encouraged and hopeful.(albeit a little gassy and noisy) This place is really making all the difference, to know that others have run into issues and stuck with it until they got some success.
What confused me is my DME person told me to mail in my sd card. Gave me a little envelope. I asked if I mail it in then I won't have one to record my compliance. She shrugged and said you will get one soon thereafter.
This just does not sound right. Did I read one has to buy their next sd card? I suppose I could walk mine in (which I plan to do because well, I get quicker answers..sometimes<g>) and ask for another. But generally what is the procedure in this?

Re: SD replacement card question
if it was me, i would buy a new sd card. use your new card as your main card that you own and use every night and don't send in. every morning you can pop your card out and pop their card in to get every nights data for them. then pop it out and put yours back in again. two sets of books, if you will. when they call for the card send it to them. when they return it or another one, continue to pop it in every morning until they ask for it again.

Sigh. Ok, this is where I have to show how dumb I can be.greatunclebill wrote:if it was me, i would buy a new sd card. use your new card as your main card that you own and use every night and don't send in. every morning you can pop your card out and pop their card in to get every nights data for them. then pop it out and put yours back in again. two sets of books, if you will. when they call for the card send it to them. when they return it or another one, continue to pop it in every morning until they ask for it again.
Is it a special sd card I have to get from them? I just really don't know computer behavior (despite being on one all day long. sigh). Or do I just go buy one anywhere?
How does one record the data for them and then pop one in and one out? how does that work? My fear I guess is screwing up their card which I could easily do through ignorance.
Sigh, But I'm really good at Euchre. LOl!

Re: SD replacement card question
My DME sent me a new card in the mail along with a prepaid mailer to send them the old card. I have already been uploading my data to the ResScan software. Once saved, it is there on my computer. I also make a backup of the data card every couple weeks. So, I have a full set of data in case something happens.
As I understand it, any regular SD card will do, so if they don't give you a replacement, you can get a cheap card and use that. But I would definitely recommend making a full copy of the first card to your computer's hard drive before you send it in. If you have a dispute about compliance data, you will be armed with proof.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Good suggestion. I finally d/led Sleepyhead. Going to try to jump into the software abyss this weekend. This stuff just is not intuitive to me. Re: SD replacement card question
Liann, If you do go buy a new SD card, make sure it's the regular SD, Not HD (I think I have read here that the HD cards won't work). I got mine at Best Buy.
Good luck with the Sleepyhead download, it is quite easy. And you will be amazed at what it shows you (I'm still trying to figure out what it all means)

i believe, but not sure any card will work with the s-9.sleeptimeinNY wrote:Liann, If you do go buy a new SD card, make sure it's the regular SD, Not HD (I think I have read here that the HD cards won't work). I got mine at Best Buy.
sd, sd/hc and micro sd cards up to 16gb all work in our system one machines. i tried each one. i didn't try bigger than 16gb. of course you need to use the sd card adapter with the micro card.

Re: SD replacement card question
buy the card from anywhere. when your card is in the machine, the data is recorded on it. you simply remove your card in the morning. then you put the other card in and it will also record the data to that card. the machine keeps a certain amount of data so anytime you forget to put your card in, the missed data will be recorded on it the next time you put it in.. you're not going to screw up the card.lliann wrote:Sigh. Re: SD replacement card question
Tino2You, I tried that copy and paste procedure but nothing would paste to the new SD card put into my computer. Did it just as you kindly instructed but no luck. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium..64bit. Why won't it paste? Thanks.

Re: SD replacement card question
will any other file paste to the card or just the cpap folders? make sure the card is not locked. the little lock on the side of the card should be pushed up towards the electrical contact end of the card. are the reader and card incompatible? is your card sd, sdhc or microsd? is your reader sd or sdhc? shouldn't matter but ya never know. are you using usb or going directly into a built in reader? maybe usb reader is not compatible with usb. they make usb 1, 2 and 3 now. just some thoughts.
another thing, try pasting the info to a folder on the hard drive and then pasting to the card from the hard drive files.

Re: SD replacement card question
Heck, unless they provided the SD card in the first place, I wouldn’t send it to them. Instead I would transfer all the data to my computer - in the exact format it is on the card - and then zip it up and send it to them via email, or put in on Dropbox (There are from accounts for 2 GB) and give them a link to download it. I don’t see the point in snail mailing memory cards back and forth when it is much easier for all to just send the data to them. Then no one has to worry anbout getting the card back, having a temp replacement while they have the card, USPS losing the card, etc. As I said either email the data to them in a zipped archive or put in in Dropbox and then send them a download link.
