Equipment Recommendations

Post by sprint213 » Sat Apr 01, 2006 12:32 pm

I have just been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I believe my numbers are rather high in averaging 50 incidents an hour. I have been reading this forum for the past couple of weeks and am trying to determine the best equipment for me.

I am basically a stomach sleeper and do breath out of my mouth a lot because of allergies and a probable deviated septum.

All recommendations welcomed.

Thanks,

I recommend a machine with Cflex, and a heated humidifier is a must.
Others can chime on mask favorites.

Good luck!

Get a machine that can track your data, get a card reader and use it!
I already had my machine before i realized this now i have to try and get an upgrade

First things first, equipment considerations for mask and machine should be considered seperate. I HIGHLY advise getting septoplasty taken care of before you start treatment, as breathing will me much easier/better and will make successful treatment much easier. Trust me, I had Septo/TR last Nov.

Secondly, you do have severe apnea, which is right around my area too: 52 events/hour. Most people will advise an Auto CPAP (APAP), which i also 2nd. If your pressure run in the high end (14+), you might consider a BiPap Auto. Bipaps provide much signficant exhalation relief, especially at higher pressure. Cflex does provide good exhalation relief, but some people require more, and that being BiPap. To whatever machine you purchase, tracking software and humidifier are highly recommended as well.
