So it's a week now on auto 8-20 (Vs cpap set to
I feel great, the only day I had a return of symptoms was the day after I tried to use a new 8 foot hose!
Lesson learned with apap on that one, despite reassurance from DME nback on 6' and doing great!
My pressure goes to 9 a bit....... and on rare occasions 10, but I feel 1000 times better than I did on straight 8 cpap.
I cannot believe such a small difference made sucha huge difference on how I feel!
I guess I can leave it set at 8-20 cm
My question is why do the nights vary. Two nights ago my index was 8 and no flags (all hypopnias seems is my deal) and last night there were flags all over the place, index 29, again all hypopnias. Both "following days" I felt great.
Am I doing something wrong?
Why is one night so good eventwise (while being on autopap) and the next so bad (also on apap) ??
Does it matter?

We don't sleep the same every night. Might have some sleep position potential differences in events or REM sleep event differences.fredboy wrote:My question is why do the nights vary.

No.fredboy wrote:Does it matter?
You will always have some good nights and some night not so good but still acceptable and this is why you have APAP...it does the adjusting for you. It won't be perfect every night.

Re: New to auto pap followup
welcome to the forum, fredboy
speaking for myself, I have sinus problems that go from bothersome to impossible. I thrash around at night and knock the mask loose, pinch the hose, etc.
xPAP isn't magical. It has to deal with real life changes and has certain things it can do. I have my backup machine sitting at work and enjoy the relief of having my airways open, so I use it at work when I feel my breathing isn't right. It's sure better than nothing, even if it can't accommodate my trying to get up out of the chair while wearing the mask . My 2 centavos worth. PS Glad the auto is working out for you.
