Is anyone here taking NuVigil? If so, what are your thoughts

Post by Afterhours » Mon May 07, 2012 6:36 am

First dose of this was taken @ 6am on an off day. Kept me up for 20 hours straight! A little more than I bargained for.

I took Nuvigil and Provigil for four years. Never had you experience of staying up 20 hours. It just kept me awake during the day allowing me to live a normal life and drive. I never felt the medicine other than I was able to stay awake. I'm not really sensitive to medicines. Sounds like you may want to halve the dose or switch to Provigil. Good luck. One day I just stopped needing the drug.

The first two days I took Nuvigil it kept me up for a long time. In fact I did not sleep at all the first night. By the third day it was about 17 hours, and over about two weeks it faded to about 14 hours. It has not seemed to decrease since it stabilized at the 14 hours, and I have not seen the effects increase of decrease if I take a few days off taking it; I just skip the drug on days I feel really well rested in the morning.

First night I took it I didn't sleep at all. After that it got better. But I've been on it 10 months now and it's losing effectiveness. I'm taking 150 mg, may have to go up.

Hey there. No one has posted here for over a year but I am gonna give it a shot. I was prescribed Nuvigil for excessive fatigue. I just started Nuvigil 2 days ago. First day I couldn't judge if it was working as the night before I actually slept well. So I wasn't sure if I felt ok due to the Nuvigil or just cuz my sleep was good. But that night, I barely slept at all. Much less then usual. Took another 150mg dose the next morning. Was still tired all day, didn't notice any change in wakefullness. That night, I slept only 3 hours and am very frustrated. I seem to still be sleepy all day, and yet can't sleep at night! I don't understand what the issue may be. Maybe its just not for me, or maybe after a few more days it will start working right as its been in my system longer? I guess I am just looking for anyeones thoughts on this, or if they experienced anything similiar, thank you.

Try Provigil and start off with a higher dose the first day (100mg - 200mg) and then half it the dose the following days as there will still be some residual in your system (50mg - 100mg). FYI if you are paying for Provigil out of pocket, get a prescription from your doctor and order it from overseas ($1.50/pill vs $30/pill).

Interesting Laserjobs. When I was on Adderall, even though my prescription coverage ran out, I was stuck paying full price because I wasn't allowed to buy it from Canada or any other country because of how it is classified. Is Provigil under different rules?

Are you a truck driver and do you do night driving?

My doc gave me a few samples. He suggested breaking them in half when I first try it. From the posts here, I can see why. My tablets are 150mg. I think I'll cut them into thirds and first try 50mg. He also said to take them early in the day to avoid night time sleeping issues. It sounds like Nuvigil is very effective to increase alertness and fight off sleepiness. I understand that adverse side effects are minimal.

It's not for treating fatigue, man. It's a stimulant for helping you avoid sleepiness. Sleepiness and fatigue are two different animals. Provigel and Nuvigel are similar re their purpose and effect.
