Holy Smokes!

Post by seekingsleep » Wed May 02, 2012 5:21 pm

I received my CPAP machine today. I brought it home, set it up and thought I would have nap. I don't know what happened but I woke up four hours later! I couldn't believe it. I have never slept like that in my life. I am still too stunned to know if I am rested or not.

I have sleep apnea, but I don't snore. Never have. (I am also not male, obese or hypertensive)
I believe the screening criteria for sleep apnea is missing a LOT of people, who have a lot of unnecessary OSA related disease.

Once you are actually sleeping you will probably start to dream again. Wait till that happens!

I hear lots of people talking about how they didn't dream prior to XPAP therapy. Me, I've had vivid and mostly wonderful technicolor dreams all my life. When I first started this therapy, my dreams stopped but have now come back, but now are vivid and werid.

I slept 10 hours a night without waking at all for about a month after starting on CPAP. I'm now at 8 hours a night or so and wake up a little here and there during the night. Dreams too, just like I used to when I was younger and slept normally. CPAP is one of the best things thats ever happened to me. Congratulations on finding treatment!

I forgot how intense and satisfying dreams were. I would not want to go to sleep without CPAP now. The dreams did return big time.

This will be night 4 for me. I've only had one nap with it but also slept 4 hours! This morning my husband got up with our daughter and let me sleep. I slept 13 crazy hours! I've found that while I do wake up when rolling over or just to adjust my mask the sleep I do get is deep and heavy.

My only complaints are that my face and chest muscles hurt. And that I am more fatigued during the day right now. I've had a problem since I was a teen (rib cage never grew fully making me under breathe) so my body has a lot of catching up to do now.
