Daily sleep report - data review

Post by bosstow » Fri May 04, 2012 10:11 pm

First, I just wanted to say thanks to the community for making this such a useful forum. I did most of my learning "searching & lurking" here prior to selecting a DME or equipment - and I really feel like being informed helped me make some informed decisions and avoid many pitfalls. This forum is a great resource.

I was recently diagnosed with OSA and have been using my S9 Autoset for a few weeks. I am still in the process of finding the right mask, but I am not at all discouraged. I love the Swift FX, it's ultra comfortable for me, but I'm still working on some solutions for mouth leaks (chinstrap, taping, etc). I'm also getting a Quattro FX FFM to try out.

Anyway, thanks to this forum I've been able to load my data into SleepyHead as well as ResScan. A sample daily report from SH is below - could some of you folks take a look and let me know your thoughts/interpretations? I'm not looking for medical advice, just some review by peers.

The daily report below is pretty typical of what I've been seeing using the nasal pillows - and I haven't tried the chinstrap just yet, hence more leaks for me. The first part of the timeline I was awake watching TV; sleep started at about midnight.

Hi,

The AHI number looks outstanding. I am not sure I'd try to change anything for a while other then working on leak control a little more. I do notice that your pressure is max'ing out at times. You might also want to tighten up the range a little since since the event at the end happened when the pressure was lower, and the machine might not have reacted in time. I also see some snores, which you might be able to knock out by tweaking the max pressure a little higher.

For now, the best option might be to continue to collect data for a while longer to see if you can reduce the leaks, and maintain those excellent AHI numbers. It would also be fun to hear how you do with the full face mask.

A very enviable report. The aid of a chin strap might help with the leaks. Otherwise don't touch a thing.

Thanks for the review and comments, I appreciate it. I'll try the chinstrap as well as the FFM to see how they work for me.
