Sleep apnea acronyms
Sleep apnea acronyms
In my experience, "DME" means "doctor of music education." I have the feeling there's a different definition on planet CPAP Talk. Also not finding in our definitions "ASV" and "PBS" (or is it PSB?) At any rate, is there anyone out there who might be willing to put together an acronym dictionary for some of us less cool kids?
Thanks!

Re: Sleep apnea acronymns
It stands for Durable Medical Equipment, and is used to represent the stores/providers that sell the equipment.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: Sleep apnea acronyms
Aha! I did see that in a Google acronym dictionary; however, I saw it used as if it were a person rather than a thing. Thanks for clearing that one up

Go to the lightbulb on top of the page and all will be explained.. along with a whole lot of other information you might want to look at.

CPAP definitions can be found inside the blue box just above the listing of topics, on the right. It helped me a lot.

Re: Sleep apnea acronyms
With all due respect, the acronyms I mentioned weren't in the definitions that are listed on this site. That was my first stop

Re: Sleep apnea acronyms
ASV: Automatic Servo Ventilator, at least I think so (my knowledge is limited to osmosis, here)
PSB: no idea at all; If PSG, then Polysomnogram: Sleep Study (maybe oversimplified)
If there is a PSB, somebody please chime in!

Re: Sleep apnea acronyms
Actually, the term "Durable Medical Equipment" IS in the CPAP Wiki (at the bottom of the page for "CPAP Definitions", however, the better way of finding the acronyms and terms on the forum is to put the word "acronyms" in the Search line (above) and there will be 21 pages of results to read through. Or, put in other words and terms you may have questions about and you will find most everything in the pages of the forum (the words have to be longer than 3 letters). There are virtually no questions about this therapy that haven't been answered many, many times before.wagepc wrote:With all due respect, the acronyms I mentioned weren't in the definitions that are listed on this site. While you're reading through the search page results, specifically look for posts by "rested gal" and then look at the links in her profile and the ones she references. They're a wealth of information. (she has combined many, many previous discussions into numerous collective links)
