Any tips/tricks for stomach sleeping?

Post by JoeP » Wed May 02, 2012 5:29 am

I really miss sleeping on my stomach. in fact this morning I woke about 30 minutes before my alarm went off so i pulled my mask off and sprawled out in prone blissfulness. I am not a face down stomach sleeper, but even with my head turned to the side the mask just doesnt feel right

Are the pillows with the cutouts worth trying? Are any masks more conducive to stomach sleeping?

I am currently using a Swift LT and may stop at the DME to pick up a Swift FX that they have waiting for me.

Thanks

Thanks for the link. That is very similar to the way i like to sleep on my stomach with one leg bent. i will give it a shot without the pillow under my head, hopefully that reduces issues with the mask.

Try a cannula style mask.

I sleep part of the night on my stomach using my Quattro mask and a buckwheat hull pillow. The pillow is hard and stops my face and mask from sinking in. It also can be shaped to fit.

I sleep that way with a regular pillow....not a problem. On my stomach with one leg bent and my face to the side. I also have a buckwheat pillow and sometimes use that instead of the regular one.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I'm a side/stomach sleeper and use Swift FX, Swift LT and SleepWeaver. I just received my second SleepWeaver on Monday - the new-improved design and have to say it's quite wonderful! The comfort factor is awesome, as was the 'old' version. The leak factor is much reduced with the new design, for me at least.

I use a Regenesis buckwheat pillow at home, but in our camper I have both a regular and a 'cutout' one - all work just fine. It's just a matter of getting it in the right shape for you and whatever mask you're using.

Cheers,
xena

I sleep on my stomach with the new Aloha and it's great. the seal never breaks because if you put any tension on the mask, as us stomach sleepers do, the pillows adjust themselves (yes, they really do...we're not making this up).

I agree that the Aloha is good for stomach sleeping (head turned to side). I find that the air vents do blow on the mattress but it does not prevent the airflow. The beauty of the Aloha is very little face marks on waking and it truly does flex when you lay on your side or stomach. Others tend to be pushed aside or need adjustment when there is pressure on the cheek.
