Aloha Mask - Price Increase

Post by jimnsc » Tue May 01, 2012 4:01 am

Well, wouldn't you just know it? My favorite mask just went up to $99. Next time I really like something new I'll give it 2 or 3 stars. Glad I had the foresight to get two.

Honestly, we all saw this coming.
You KNOW that in the back of your minds Aloha folks ARE lurking on this forum to see how people reacted to this new product.
They KNEW how we reacted. A great percentage of us reacted with standing ovations. Therefore, price hike!

I noticed the return insurance nearly DOUBLED.
That usually means that a bunch have been returned already.
Does the library have any yet?

I wonder what cpap.com does with the returned masks.....sure would nice to have them offered to us at a reduced rate after all they are used.

FDA probably wouldn't allow that--unless they were "hospital-sanitized".
Then they probably wouldn't allow the headgear.
But any offer would be welcome!

I wondered why the price of return insurance varies so greatly.

What factors, other than the number of returns and price of the item, result in higher return insurance?

Yea. I was a little miffed, but we got ours at the introductory price , so why are we complaining.
Everyone was saying this would happen once the sleep labs got it. I don't know if they have to give all those masks for free or just real cheap for samples , but it's thousands of masks. That apparently drives the cost way up. That or it was a great introductory and you had to know it would go to normal price. In my opinion, it's better than all the other pillow and look what Resmed charges plus you have to buy the soft wraps as accessory with Resmed. It's still a bargain at 99 bucks. My hybrid from the same manufacturer is half the price as the Liberty and look how much they give ya.

price increase isn't that bad if you consider that with the addition of a spare filter, the order would qualify for free shipping.

I see its gone up to $99 with all the on line cpap suppliers i looked at. If you find one at the old price then i think cpap.com does the price match, also cpap.com gives you free shipping on the aloha at $99.

$99 is still at the lower end of mask pricing. But assuming i'm going to be using at least one mask a year and live another 40 years I'm still going to be looking at $4000 on Aloha's

I wish they could sell a cheaper version with only one pillow once you know your size

Great point, John5396!
So it sounds like with the free shipping, it's a wash. (Of, course, Johnny Goodman must have known that. Their very fair at cpap.com)

At $99 it already qualifies for free shipping, no need to buy anything else.

Not for me it doesn't, I paid $17 for shipping, I live in Canada But that is still a good buy, if its as good as my Hybrid, I will be one happy camper. I have 3 Hybrids so far and 2 extra sets of pillows and mouth cushions .

Oh yeah i just typed in my US zip code on cpap.com to find out

BUT hang around on that page long enough and a chat agent box popped up offering free return insurance

$99 inc free shipping and free return insurance, thats a better deal than the one i originally got.
