Mirage Quattro vs. Quattro FX

I'm currently using a mirage Quattro and was wondering if anyone else had a lot of leaks with it? I was thinking about getting a Quattro FX and was wondering if anyone here has tried it?? What do you recommend?

I just returned my Mirage Quattro, lots of leaks and sore bridge of nose. Going to try the Swift FX nasal pillow and a chin strap tonight. This is night 4 on my BiPap.

The quattro can be a hard mask to get adjusted and even then their are times you will bump it or move funny and it will leak. I recently tried the quattro fx for a night and liked it. I did have a minor leak that blew on the eyes a little but I think I can get it adjusted once I go back to it. I went back to the quattro because I had switched machines at the same time and wanted to keep the variables down.

The quattro FX is a good mask if you fit it properly.

I have found the quattro fx to be far more comfortable than the quattro mirage or ultra mirage.
that said, everyone is different. Be sure to get a padacheek liner for either.
and definitely follow the fitting instructions carefully.
I find that leaks are not a problem for me, and the bottom straps are snugger than the top.

Totally agree on the padacheek (at http://www.pad-a-cheek.com) liner. It it comfortable and helps with leaks. Plus by keeping the body oils on the mask cushions, it probably extends their life.

One other caution about the Quattro is that the bottom strap is designed to sit on the neck (near the C1 and C2 vertebrae) rather than the base of the scull. If you have neck problems, it will aggravate them.

I'm on the waiting list for the Quattro FX, but from the illustrations, it looks like it sits on the base of the scull.

I like the Quattro FX better but the cheek liner is a must on either mask.

I have both and experience very low leak rates with either mask but definitely prefer the Quattro FX as it's smaller, lighter and more comfortable. The Mirage Quattro seals well for me against leaks but I get a sore and redness on my nose bridge. I think if you have kind of a wide nose bridge, it can be a problem with the Mirage Quattro. Sometimes I use Padacheek liners and sometimes I don't. I actually get less leakage without the Padacheek, but with the Padacheek I get more comfort and only slightly higher leak rates. Definitely watch the videos on fitting it though if you get one.
