short tube alternative for Swift FX?

Post by ariana » Fri Apr 27, 2012 6:49 pm

Hi all,

I will soon need to replace the short tube for my beloved Swift FX. Just wondering if there is a creative alternative to the $74 short tube that is standard. Checked archives and didn't come up with anything. Lotta money for a little tube...

After going through many of those hoses (notice my user name) I have come up with a way to make them last longer.

Karen at PadACheek makes a wonderful hose cover for that short hose. If you "adjust" the velcro to allow it to tightly clamp both ends of the hose, the strain put on the hose by rolling over is transferred to the hose cover and the short hose lasts much longer.

I have several complaints that I have submitted to ResMed about the quality of that hose. So far I have been ignored. I even offered to do prototype testing for them since I seem to be hard on that hose... They still have ignored me.

When I first started I was going through a hose in less than a month. I had all sorts of methods to repair them, but the hose cover "reinforcement" seems to work very well. The 6' hose lasts forever and I have never had a problem with it. I have been toying with the idea of adapting a spare of those to take the place of the small hose on the Swift FX.

Thank you for the ideas, everybody. Helps to "think outside the box," and if HoseCrusher ever rigs up a short tube from a long one, a Lab Rat award will surely be waiting!
